From The Sun today:
Quote: HOBBIT lookalike Kurt Nilsen last night beat Will Young to the World Idol title — then branded the British hero “an a**hole.”
Norwegian Kurt, 25 — from the land famed for getting “nil points” at Eurovision — left Will trailing down in fifth place on the ITV show.
When hosts Ant and Dec announced his victory with a score of 106, the ex-plumber blubbed: “This is totally amazing” and said to his rivals: “I love you guys.”
But he later told a newspaper from his hometown of Bergen: “Will Young is an a**hole.
“He didn’t want to shake my hand and say hello.”
Kurt had been branded a hobbit by Aussie judge Ian Dickson because of his startling resemblance to Lord of the Rings’ Sam Gamgee.
Simon Cowell, acting as the US judge, told him: “If this competition had been on radio you’d walk it. The problem is you are ugly.”
But Kurt still polled top points from nine of the 11 countries taking part — including BRITAIN — with his version of U2’s Beautiful Day.
One-time favourite, America’s Kelly Clarkson, 20, was runner-up with 97 points for Natural Woman.
Will, 24, managed only 72 points for his version of Light My Fire.
Dad-of-two Kurt is now set to release his single She’s So High in the UK.
It managed huge sales in Norway, staying at No1 for nine weeks.

The people making up the story obviously forgot to communicate, so we have one saying "bastard" and the other "asshole".
They also must have missed the bit where Will was chatting away and congratulating Kurt with a pat on the shoulder every time he gained maximum points, then...
Hmm...

i don't know but by the look on wills face he doesn't like losing very much. instead of thinking about losing maybe he should look at what he has achived. but then not taking up something for charity is a bit low, i think!!

The point is Will didn't want to win, nor did his fans really want him to. He finished in the perfect position - 5 is not too high nor too low. He was pissing about when he put his head in his hands. Anyway, it's over now, hopefully never to be repeated.

Funny cause everyone else that I have spoken to/read their comments though Will was really funny in the results show. Even those who didnt like him could see he was taking the rip and having a laugh just like when Guy went crosseyed at the camera.
How much charity work do you like Will is asked to do? I imagine its at least 3 piece every single day, he cant do it all, there is not enough time in the day !!! If you read back through the thread you will see all the amazing work he has done for charity and next year he is doing a run for mencap !! If the others had a bit of guts about them then they would have said no as well, I think they were going to record 'all you need is love' any credability that the idols had gained (and Will has worked very hard to be seen as credible here in the UK) would have been lost in one song. Our papers would have *slaughtered* him !
Also this was in the news today, see how on the same day articles saying basically the opposite can be printed !
London News
"Will may not have won World Idol for which we are truely thankful but what he did win was the respect and warmth of several celebrities around the world. Many commented on his politeness and friendly manner as he shook off the fact he came fifth. A string of number ones and probably still top of the album charts with hardly a cover in sight, leaves Will in no doubt that Britain see him as a winner. Congratulations on a great year Will."

Take a look at this picture and tell me Kurt and Will were not friends on the night. If you watched the programme you would see Will clapping for Kurt. God do you believe everything the papers say. bad news sells more newspapers than good news.

I have only ever seen the one performance from will, that being on WI, so I am by no means claiming to know what this guy is all about and what not, unlike some of the other aussies posting in this thread. Before reading this thread I would have probably said that him refusing the charity CD was a very selfish thing for him to do, this was also before I knew he had been out of idol for 2 years now. I can totally understand why he would not want to do this, is it not true that guy is striving to loose his idol status and to be known more for his talent and as a real artist? Well Will has acheived this and does not want to jeperdise loosing that credibility. I would say that him even entertaining world idol has done nothing for his career except set him a few steps back. proabably out of all the winners of idol he has the most to loose at this point in time because I highly doubt that kelly will still be where she is now in 2 years the only reason for her success so far is the fact that she is from america. Will has every right to refuse this charity CD if it going to effect his career. If you were trying to work your way to the top of your job you would do nothing to jeperdise your position. Give Will a break.

I don't think your photo shows anything.
As a TV personality, Will would act pleasantly on camera unless he was a total moron.
I think Kurt was talking about Will's behavior off camera.

so why sit next to him. I know if I didn't want anything to do with someone I wouldn't sit next to them. I don't care what you say it's a load of crap, the media are rtying to stir things up to sell newspapers.

They would have been told where to sit. by the looks of that photo, the order they were sitting seemed to be the same as he order they came out and performed in. (before the infamous editing fairy came along). Who cares if Will Young is an areshole or not, how people behave behind closed doors is none of our concern.

theres no need for him to be rude, Kurt won thats that, and as if it would matter?, will never wanted to do world idol in the first place, obviously he wanted to detatch himself from the show which is understandable but to react like that, he isnt an idol hes an asshole
