Guy has a CD to promote as well as doing the Australian Idol tour, yet he was still willing to do the CD. Ofcourse he is willing!!! How long ago did he win? And has he released anything in any other countries? Not here in the UK that's for sure. It would be beneficial to him to do the CD, but for Will it would be a backward step. The papers over here have been brutal and ruthless and you have no idea the things he has had to put up with, not least of all being Simon Cowell not liking the fact that Will won in the first place. Will has done lots of work for animal charities and raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for Children In Need which works to help underprivileged children around the world. Will is a really nice, polite, friendly guy who would not say no to a charity record but for the fact that at World Idol it was treated as a joke and the whole thing just isn't taken seriously. Plus, judging by this and other boards Will is getting slammed by fans of the other Idols for one or the other reason (because he's British, or he's gay, or he's this or that or whatever...). He doesn't need this and he doesn't need the British press rubbing his face in the dirt which is what they would definitely do if he did this. It's not Will being a diva it's everyone else who wants to slam him that's being uppity about it. It's obvious not a lot of you here have seen him in interviews. He's a brilliant guy. If only more 'celebrities' behaved like he did... Oh, and make no mistake, he probably won't win - I've read far too many prejudicial statements from people on forums for him to have enough non-British support to win - but his fans are some of the luckiest in the world. Will's music and vocals are absolutely dynamic and if he's never famous outside of Europe then who cares, because his own fans love him no matter what and enjoy music that he can really be proud of because it is so good. Sorry to go on, but some of the remarks here and elsewhere have been one sided and in some cases disgusting.

I have a feeling he won't be able to make it to the top as well... But, as an Australian, I'll be voting for him as much as my wallet will allow me! ;D Jen

How would it be a backward step for Will? He's well known in England, but from what I gather he's barely known in the States and no one in Australia knows about him except big Idol fans. Least the CD would've gotten Will recognition in other countries as well.

He *will* be recognised in the future but for his album, his work !
Everyone has to leave the Pop idol tag behind at some point as I am sure Guy will want to one day. Thats not forgetting but it is moving on.
Will is happy cause he can sing for a living and I really believe that as long as he sells well enough in the UK (and hes doing amazing at the moment) then he will be happy cause that is the kinda of man Will is !

I would rather Will be recognised and loved in other countries for his own music. His time will come if not now in a few years to come when I believe he WILL be loved all over the world for the truely talented singer/songwriter that he is

I totally agree with you benny. Will wouldnt want recognition as a World Idol, but he will become known in other countries. He will do it in his own time and it will be his music that does it.

some of the remarks here and elsewhere have been one sided and in some cases disgusting. What remarks on this board? I've read plenty of comments about his performance being disappointing, but nothing about him being gay, etc, that was out of line. (although I have read plenty elsewhere)

And yeah at the Aussie Idol Grand Final, they had past winners from other Idols..and it was Kelly Clarkson and Gareth Gates. To be fair-they didn't actually say Gareth Gates was the winner. Although you could easily assume so, considering they showed Kelly who we all know won, but very few of us knew of Will Young.

Think I need to hear Will's side of the story before I go around condeming him out of hand as that kind of behaviour is totally alien to his nature and personality. He's someone who values good manners highly.
For example the papers also reported that Will was the only contestant to not book into the same hotel as the other idols or mix with them very much, implying and making it seem like he was acting like he was too good for them.
The real truth however was much simpler. The reason he didn't stay at the hotel is because his own home is in central London so there was just no need. The recording for WI also fell slap bang in the middle of the promotion for his latest single and album, the reason he didn't attend many of the events the others did is simply because his calender was already fully booked with other commitments.

As for Will not shaking Kurts hand i find that totally unbelievable. He has impecable manners and would not be as rude as that. We would like to hear Will's version of events I think. If he refused to shake his hand there must be a very good reason. It is not in WIll's nature to be rude.
Also I heard from someone that attended World Idol that Will was patting kurt on the back . Maybe they were seeing things I dont know. I think the media has misunderstood Kurt, maybe he was joking with them like Will used to do with gareth in the early days. It could've been a joke taken out of context. We will never know unless Kurt or Will say something to us themselves.
