yes pinkline Paulini does have a great voice and I think her and Guy should of been in the final 2.
Paulini is nice/sweet/pretty but she didnt seem to have that much of a personality for Aust Idol, although maybe she's just shy? Im sure she will release a song, which will be very successful in Australia/NZ:)
The Aust winner had to be an 'All Round' performer with talent, personality, image etc

most of these long threads go viciously off-topic, so im going to judge the topic by the title. Shannon would've appealed to the world more, i think they were expecting someone whose actually..um..australian?

Tartlet,
Paulini had all the ingredients you mention - MORONS were responsible for her not getting to World Idol and likewise similar stories around the world.

Hasn't he been in Aussie as an Aussie citizen for most of his life? Maybe I just misunderstood what you were saying...

Lets face it, Shannon would most likely of been torn apart by the judges. If he didn't impress the judges, it would make it harder for international releases of his album. Guy may of came 7th, but the judges clearly loved him which explains the quick movement to release his album in the States and the Uk.

It doesnt matter what the judges thought, it is the people that vote and I repeat guy came 7th. Look at the ones that beat him and it may show you what the world thought of guy.

Yes, it does matter what the judges thought. They're the ones that help release the cd's aren't they? Guy came 7th, yet went into talks almost straight away with BMG branches in the UK and USA.
Also who knows what the motivation for voting was? It obviously wasn't all based on talent or performance on the night. Political voting, sympathy votes, voting in spite of judges..that all came into play. For all we know, people could've loved Guy. In fact many Americans have admitted to really liking Guy but didn't vote. Also many have said that they saw Guy as a threat and that influenced their voting.

AND, the whole show was a joke!! Edited beyond belief, shown at stupid times (XMAS evening)...etc. etc. Believe you me...the world will be pleasantly surprised when Guy becomes an international artist!!

The rest of the world did not tune in to watch WI. A large majority of the music buying public didn't bother with watching WI- or at least didn't bother to vote. The judges know this. I'm not saying that Guy will become the hugest star we've ever known, just that the WI vote doesn't mean so much in the context of things.
