"I expect it was a similar situation to Rob Mills that got him there. Of course I am talking about his looks, female fans loved him and that was clearly evident from many of the signs held up during the live performance shows on a Sunday night." What the hell is that supposed to be about Brett. Millsy is fantastic cause of his looks and Voice, same with Shannon. Shannon would have come 2nd instead of 7th like Guy. I did like Guy's version of what a wonderful world tho. Go The Fro and Flavour Saver ;D

I suffered from a rare medical condition that stopped me from being able to hurl. But after listening to Shannons version of "What about me" I am completely cured. Everytime it comes on TV I am able to projectile vomit across the room. Thank you shannon for your inane, bland, oz, ocker, meloncholy. It makes me want to take me sheila out to the ute to do the kangaroo hop!

Judges dont buy the cds people do. there are cds released every day that some record executive has decided the public will buy and they dont. Guy came 7th in the WI contest....just incase you didnt know.

Guy came 7th in the WI contest....just incase you didnt know. I've said many times that Guy came 7th so yeah I do know. And I don't see why you're taking the placing so seriously when obviously the vote wasn't just based on personal liking for the performer. World Idol rankings have no substance whatsoever.

I'm getting this feeling about Sceptic right here Stone Deaf is one of the few truly invincible Warriors because nothing can shatter his impenetrable armor of non recognition. His primitive battle strategy is maddening effective; he simply refuses to acknowledge any arguments he doesn't like. Kung-Fu Master can hammer away with devastating blows, Cyber Sisters can screech in full throat and Profundus Maximus can expound until he drops, but Stone Deaf remains utterly oblivious as he advances his dogged and often repetitious attacks. In the early stages of battle a wide array of Warriors will fling themselves at Stone Deaf, but inevitably they fall back exahusted or lose interest when they see that their best weapons have no effect. His only real enemy is Admin, who has the power to eject him from the discussion forum. www.flamewarriors.com ;D

God I am so sick of people making fun of Shannon and saying he needs singing lessons. He has an outstanding voice. Watch his original Idol audition and watch the judge's faces and listen to their comments. They were so impressed and moved by the way he sang, he was fantastic. Shannon would have done well @ World Idol I am sure of it. When there is people like Alexander and Peter there, think of Shannon in comparison. Had he sung Working Class Man he woulda rocked the house and I think the judge's would have shown atleast some appreciation of that. Shannon is the typical Aussie and I think that the rest of the world woulda have seen that and thought it was great. Guy did a good job @ World Idol and didn't deserve his 7th place, it was completely unfair. So if, as a Shannon fan, I am able to pay respect to Guy and his voice, then why can't all the Guy fans out there do the same and stop bagging out Shannon and appreciate his style and talent? Idol Obsessed, you made a good point with this post. I also think Shannon would have gone better than Guy did in WI, his style has a lot more instant appeal (or instant hatred) whereas Guy isn't outstanding at first sight (in my opinion) Another thing: when someone is so determined to assert their individuality with their style & appearance, it can get really, really annoying.

Guy may not have been instantly appealing to you because maybe it took awhile for you to appreciate the type of music that he sings (if you ever did). The first time that I heard his voice is was like "WOW, WHO THE HECK IS THAT??". And there is nothing wrong with asserting one's own individuality!! The world would be a flippin' boring place if people were not brave enough to do this. Much better, in my opinion, than just going along with what everyone else does. Lastly, instant appeal is like a quick fix. And quick fixes usually don't last long!! I have heard Shannon's voice on a download and he would not have appealed to ALOT of people. ALOT of people would not have gotten what he is about. I DO like him however. Would definitely purchase his CD!!

When I was talking about instant appeal, I wasn't talking about me - Guy's style of music isn't to my taste, I can appreciate his talent but the songs he chooses aren't to my liking. I was talking about how, in earlier rounds of AI, Shannon recieved more votes than Guy, and how people only began becoming loyal Guy supporters late in the competition - after having months to get used to his style. I also agree with what you said about instant appeal, & that it doesn't last long. But the thing about WI was that it was based on instant appeal, just 1 song. People saw Kurt as a breath of fresh air & voted for him - but how many will buy his album? And, I definitely agree that it's good to have your own individual style (even though it might seem like I'm contradicting myself) - I just meant that Guy's very individual, some might say eccentric, style & appearance probably turned some people off. However I don't agree that Shannon wouldn't have been successful. With the exception of Peter, all the performances were pop music, & if Shannon sung something with more of a rock edge, it could have been well recieved as it would stand out from the crowd. Nice talkin' to ya

Nice talkin' to ya Hey Entropy, I did not mean that Shannon would not have been successful. Just that he would not have appealed to alot of people...just like any other singer. I have only heard one download...and I really liked it. World Idol was a bit of an idiot show...so doing well on it probably wouldn't have meant much. But I do get your point when you say that it was a show geared toward instant appeal. They really only had one shot. And, yes I've read that Guy had to grow on people in Aussie. Funny cus here in the US everyone that I played my CD for really liked him. But, also we are surrounded alot by R and B. I think it is great that Guy, potentially one of the best R and B singers ever, is Aussie grown!! Nice, chatting with you too!! Please come back again!!

this is pathetic, "imagine if shannon was in world idol." really, what the hell does this have to do with anything?
if it wasn't for cosimas throat nodules, shannon would not have made the final. now that's believable!

Astro your above post is incorrect. Both Marcia and Mark Holden have admitted that Shannon was ahead in the votes when Cosima pulled out.

IMAGINE (J Lennon - Nelson Piddled by Pinkline Jones)
Imagine there's no Millsys, It's ease air if yo trar, No butchered song lyrics, But then again there’s Guy, Imagine all the Millsys farting through their days...
Imagine there's no Nilsons, It isnt hard to do, No dental work a surgeon would die for, And no crap Bono impressions too, Imagine all the Nilsons Using dental floss…..
You may say Im a Paulini psychopath, BURT I'm not the only one (remembering Lauren), I hope some day Shannonoke And all the other barry crockers will Be EUTHANISED (only kidding) and Pinkline's restraining order will be undone
Imagine no DeVitos, I wonder if you can, No need for excuses about Nodules or hairy eyebrows, A screaming voice of spam, Imagine all the DeVitos Shouting excuses at the world...
You may say Im a Paulini psychopath, BURT I'm not the only one, I hope some day Shannonoke And all the other barry crockers will Be EUTHANISED (only kidding) and Pinkline's restraining order will be undone
