It would have shamed the whole country with his friggen Pseudo-Barnsey whine! The judges would have ripped into him. I bet he was at home thinking - I'm so glad I'm not there. He knew he didn't deserve to win. He didn't even deserve to watch the aussie idol heats on TV.

Or he could have been a hit with the rest of the world.
Assumptions are great, but you just never know.

Shannon isn't half the singer Guy is and doesn't have a tenth of his musical knowledge and talent, but I think the ORDINARY PEOPLE (that is, the voters) would have related to him a lot more. He's got a lot in common with the winner Kurt - but again not nearly as good a voice. BUT if he had belted out something like "Working Class Man' , like he did in oz idol, I think the voters would have loved him. For sure, he would have done a lot better than Guy, who appeals to a different type of fan.

As a Guy fan... I honestly think Shannon would've done better at idol- perhaps 5th instead of 7th. Because considering the way the world voted for Heinz (his looks were the ONLY thing going for him in that performance- oh, and song choice), and the way the world does not appreciate originality (sorry, Shannon's a nice singer, but he's not big on the originality), they would've quite liked Shannon. He would not have placed top 3 though- his voice is just not good enough compare to Kelly and Kurt's, and he's not as cute as Heinz. Peter placing 3rd I can only explain through the 'tude he showed... plus being the only pure rock act amongst all the pop, he was quite unique and didn't suffer vote-splittage. The world is weird. Or maybe I'm weird.

yeah, he didn't sing what about me at the finale THAT well either...i'd say it's an average performance.....in the Oz Made show, (where he first sang it) it lifted the roof....but then he performed it all around the country whereas Guy used different songs and What About Me lost it's impact...

Can you just imagine what Mr. Nasty Judge (Simon Cowell) would have said to Shannon had he been part of World Idol. Let me take a guess;
"Shannon.....you look like a rockstar and sing like Nanny Fine. You do have the X factor, unfortunately it is the X against your name after that performance. Get some singing lessons or don't compete on a World Stage!"
Shannon has half the voice of Guy and there is no way that Shannon could write 3 songs for an album the way that Guy did. Shannon decimated New York, New York on the Big Band show and certainly didn't do anything for his reputation singing Already Gone by Powderfinger. I was amazed that he reached the AI final, I expect it was a similar situation to Rob Mills that got him there. Of course I am talking about his looks, female fans loved him and that was clearly evident from many of the signs held up during the live performance shows on a Sunday night.

Maybe Shannon would have done better, who knows? But I believe if he had of, it would have been for the wrong reason. (ie-image) I think Guy is more talented, so I would rather see him do his thing and come 7th then see Shannon do his thing and come 5th or whatever he may have come. I also think the judges would have criticised his performance...even the Australian Idol judges were criticisng him towards the end, and the World Idol judges were much harsher.

I think Shannon's voice doesn't come close to Guy's but, as I said in another thread, Shannon might've had a better chance in WI because he's got a good voice for country music, and that's what people overseas would've exected from Australia. And Shannon doesn't really arrange songs, he sings them more or less the way they are. Somehow, I don't see the judges liking Shannon, but I see the voters being impressed.

Somehow, I don't see the judges liking Shannon, but I see the voters being impressed. You summed it up right there . Random, I agree with the 'I'd rather see Guy do his own thing and come 7th' comment too!
