I remember taking more than a couple of performances to start appreciating his talent. Maybe he shouda just belted out a number in the most boring way which seems to be what most countries like.

heh.
I wonder about some of their taste. Especially the pan arab nation.
But if Guy wasn't the winner, I was more than happy that Kurt was.

The Pan Arabic votes were weird and downright incorrect...lets not even go there! I don't think that the Pan Arabic votes were "weird and downright incorrect", it's just that they probably listen to different styles of music and maybe the people who got the top votes in their country had the same sort of style they listen to... There was no doubt Guy had a good voice and respect for doing something different, but the arrangement of the songs was a little too strange for me. Coupled with the fact that nearly every World Idol forum in the world was full of Australians posting how great Guy was. It put me off big time so I thought if he's as great as you say he doesn't need my vote.

Fenix, I guess you could have used that as an excuse to not vote for guy. I thought most forums had people 'rooting' for Kurt to win which didn't seem to have 'upset' his chance to win. World Idol is a silly nonsense anyway - it didn't give anyone the chance to assess the ability of most of the participants. Different countries- different cultures - different music tastes - even the judges hardly agreed. It's no surprise that a performance that was universally 'familiar', won and I think you'll probably find that most Australians are quite happy with Kurt's win even if they hoped for more for their own 'hero' - btw, I aint aussie. Maybe Guy's fans thought the rest of the world might too easily dismiss him because of his difference.
Before I forget - congratulations Kurt.

Thanks Pyst... & Fenix, I think the general consensus among Guy fans was - he's the newest idol, let's introduce him to the world and get him some recognition. It was done with a little (ok, alot) too much fervour though... hey, we were on a high after the AI win Anyway, hope that hasn't damaged your impression of Guy permanently

Agree 100% - and what recognition it has given him. On the American Idol site there was a post with a number of replies asking how they can get Guys CD as it has sold out in the US!! this is brilliant!! BMG stated in an article yesterday that after guys AI tour they will be releasing a single in the US and GB...the sky is the limit for him...I can not wait to see his journey unfold.

And I just can't see how any country could name Alexander as their favourite of the night...that just does not add up at all!
