AustAngel why do u like short fat little "Guy's" that have no talent. well? You know what tosick....if only you and your gift were in the real public arena I could then maybe hear how fantastic you are. Then we could see how many fans you have. At this point your fan base comprises of one person...YOU! And guy has more talent in one afro hair then you do in all your pathetic posts combined!

I have had the opportunity to watch a segment of Guy singing "What a wonderful World" from the AI show, to seeing the full final WI version.
Who knew this song could be sung with more versaility, feeling, perfection in notes than when that first time?......but while some needed to improve obviously throughout the AI show (and they did), Guy, who was already as close to singing the best I've heard in a long while, sang it better at WI. This uptempto version on WI was 'more relaxed' even if he was nervous, when he' go up an octove with one note ocasionally, it was so perfect - and then there was that magnificent finish.
Guy should be more than happy with the way he sang the Louis Armstrong. I was flabergasted by this 'even better arrangement' of his version of the uptempo song - and I can't get it out of my head........I think he has the ability to make people love R & B more than ever before.

yes, guy was different in the way that he showed more courage than most with his rendition of the great louis armstrong composition. a few of the others did show similarities but like anything different and exciting, the more you hear it the more it grows. i suppose you could say the same for will's song which i didn't like, probably because it hadn't grown on me.
nevertheless, guy was sensational. was wi ready for guy may be something to consider?

well most singers or bands have started out doing something different wouldn't it be a boring world if they were all the same i'm sure everyone can think of a few singers or bands that bought different sounds. e.g 99 luft balloons , devo , baha men-who let the dogs out. and they all did pretty good. so good on guy for bringing more individuality into this world like many berfore him ;D

Yes Guy was different to the other performers 7 of them sang better than him.
That arragement was unwell, like sick what the hell was he doing.
How dare he fuck up a Armstrong song like that.
Who the fuck does he think he is I think a little fame has gone to his head.
thanks.

I'd like to see Guy release his brilliant uptempo version of "What a Wonderful World" as a single - with a great video clip tp match - the world WOULD take to his version, it is outstanding.
Guy, where's your marketing team? Tell 'em to get their act together and do the right thing by you.

I commend Guy for trying to do something different with a song but with the way he has throttled the Louis Armstrong classic - it is now devoid of the lyrical and melodic emotives that made it such a great song. Its a bit funky but more of a party trick than something to treat too seriously.

hi Pinky I think Guys funky version of 'what a wonderful world was suppose to put ppl in a 'party mood' since it was at xmas and a 'world idol' but ppl couldnt relate to it not being an original song when most others performed kareoke style songs that night. He did say at the time he didnt have much time to get together the song with everything else going on, with only winning Aust Idol 3 weeks before, but dont think it was meant for long term success as only a 2 minute cover song. I do like the full version on his album, although never was a big fan of the original in the first place I found this thread here in another forum, where Guy talks about his Idol win and likes being 'different' although its more about his personal life that style of music australianidol.proboards22.com/index.cgi?board=show&action=display&thread=1071758670

Guy's version = pop. The thing is, I don't think Guy aspires to greatness, just funness. I wish he did... because he has the potential. BTW, I do like Guy's WAWW... but I know it's not a patch on the original.

I wonder if HE even knows yet how talented he really is!! I do think that he knows that his voice is a gift and thusly will put his considerable talents and abilities to good use. I don't think that he will squander away his abilities...from all that I have read about him I think he is too spiritual for that. He knows that his voice is a gift from God. I think that he has all that he needs to be ONE OF THE GREAT talents!!

Look i think Guy version of "what a wonderful world" encompasses the happier side to the song in the arrangement rather then louis armstrongs very minotnous slow and funeral music type sadly serene version. commend guy because he did it better full stop, no one would give 2 fucks about a wonderful world and he made it enjoyable.... credit to the man
