Cosima should have been voted out weeks ago? Hardly Lila. She was / is one of the rare girls in the comp. with youthful fresh looks, and - those dresses she wore matched her songs and their period. And - she is size 10, so she looks good in everything. I'd say - what a smart move from Paulini - she deliberatly squeezed herself in that horrendes dress, so that all the fat nation is behid her, and all the "missing"votes are behid her. Everyone tries too hard, and they are gradually all getting on my nerves - with exception to Guy, who is just - himself - hugely talented young person. Guy stands out by a mile. Paulini lost my vote because she plays the fat and the race card!

Oh common Nena...I think you're being a little harsh on Paulini. She didn't intend to look "fat" in that dress, if you want to blame to fat card, then it's obviously Dicko that promoted it. Also, I don't think Paulini decided to be brown either ...again Cle started the race card thing.

No, I don't think I'm harsh on Paulini. She is too smart for the ordinary Australian voter. Everyone who doesn't want to be branded as rasists or fat/curvy people haters, will say - poor girl, this week I'll vote for her, how dare that slob saying those terrible things to her! And yes, I believe that she is that desperate to win. I used to vote for her. But something broke in me since her last performance, and I don't trust her. Most annoying this is when you see somebudy trying too hard to impress you, and not being herself and let it be.

Paulini doesn't really look that desperate to me, she's got a great voice and doesn't really need all the sympathy votes. I can see that you aren't voting for her b/c she's already getting so many sympathy votes... but i just don't think she's smart or sly enough to have purposely intended it. Also, the reason why Paulini may not be herself (although I think she is), would only be the same identity crises that Cosima is having trouble dealing with in an attempt to impress the public, under the Australian idol spotlight.

It does sound like the judges do need to be careful with what they say. I know that these guys have been right up there with some of the biggest talent in the world, but that doesn't mean that they should be able to say what they like without being accountable in some way for it.
A lot of the singing industry is based on personal opinions from the general populace of a star, however, for everyone that thought Paulini needed to lose a few pounds, there would have been the same amount or more who would have thought she looked fine. I was one of those. Who wants unhealthy looking stars? Let's be realistic!

Cosima has pole legs and she shouldn't wear short skirts so why doesn't Dicko say that to her? It's a fair call after his comments to Paulini. She has legs like one of the World Cup rugby forwards!

Michelle, just have a look at MTV for a while. Except some rap "artists" there isn't remotely any "fuller" figure in the music industry. And, that's the reality. No one cares about the music celebs, looking "healthy". Everyone is looking for "slim" music celebs. And, unfortunately, that's the reality. Just look at Kylie - no musing talent whatsoever, went so far with her career just by having a slim sexy butt!

Thankyou Melissa, I think its time that some people read "The Female Eunuch" by Germaine Greer. I have watched many American Music Awards nights and I LOVED it when the Aretha Franklins and similar, came out in their gold and silver numbers, at a size 20 plus!!! They never failed to get a standing ovation. "Boyfriends," Dicko and Mark, I know you are in the ENTERTAINMENT industry, but does the entertainment industry . as shallow as it is, really make a difference to the evolution of human beings -(especially cave-men- like males). If you really wanted to make a difference you would be a social worker, but I guess you are not aspiring to the welfare of human beings, you are aspiring to your bank balance. So go on- perpetuate anorexia if it makes you feel good. Personally , I never met an Australian male who was WORTH getting anorexic over. Frags

Yes, those comments were out of line and shouldn't have been aired on TV, but Paulini could've have most certainly dressed to suit her own image and shape. That dress looked like something off the Jerry Springer show and wasn't at all classy. Paulini is classy. And I agree with Dicko - if Paulini was a new talent who didn't have the protection of AI and worn that thing to some ceremony, she would've been slapped in the 'What were they thinking' pages of NW the next day - just like Melissa George when she wore that weird pantaloon outfit to the Logies in the 90s.

I agree Whatever, Paulini will thank Dicko for that comment - in a long run (if she has any sense). But, something tells me she is not that intelligent. On the last show when Dicko tried to explain why he said that, she responded like, i like my body and am proud of it. Who says otherwise? Stupid girl. I'll repeat again - DICKO SAID - IF - SHE WANTS TO WEAR THOSE KIND OF OUTFITS - THEN SHE'D NEED TO LOSE SOME WEIGHT (which even she knows herself it's true). No one is intrusive towards her looks or her weight (only when she puts herself in something which doesn't suit her body, that's all). It is all blown out of proportion in order to make some more votes from " offended" girls. Frags, I've read that, and many other books by Germaine Greer, but it is incomparable to this show, to the superficial world we live in, and it is unreasonable to expect that people would "wake up" in realisation, provoked by a superficial show like this. Get real! And also, contestant like Paulini who gets herself into a "sexy stereotype look", trying to provoke - I don't know what, maybe "the cave like men"?, a?, doesn't help the feminist outlook either, does it?

All I can say is that I watched inside idol tonite - and saw how Paulini carried herself after being insulted by both Mark and Dicko - (God you would have thought that Dicko could have tamed his comments a little after viewing Mark's typically MANIC reaction to the dress) - The pair of them doing a trip on her looked like a couple of loser bullies in the playground. But Paulini handled herself with grace and a sense of humour -on and off stage. If she can "survive" that she can survive anything -so good choice of song for the night Paulini. You are a strong woman, and personally I think you are a stunning looking woman by any standards. Cossima's and Guy's support of Paulini was really great too - yes people do come in all shapes and sizes - Hello Australia? Grow up please! Frags.

Truly, I'm sick and tired of this Paulini controversy. SHE DIDN'T LOOK GOOD IN THAT DRESS - FINISH! OK?
And, you Frags, Greer's type of woman will never go in that kind of dress, OK? That king of dress is ALL Greer is fighting against!
So stop being so smart ass, and go back to your reading, maybe you'll understand something if you try harder!

Dear Famme, I'm just trying to find a solution for the fact that, in Australia and other Western countries, the growing trend is that girls as young as EIGHT years old are developing anorexia and other eating disorders- Also, starving themselves at school reduces their ability to concentrate, thus putting them at a significant disadvantage in their intellectual development. Yes I do watch these type of television documentaries such as the recent story "Is dieting making you dumb?" aimed at primary and teenage girls. And I am not sorry if you are offended that I do read widely-knowledge is power, and reading gives people choices about how they will live their lives. Only morons try to reinvent the wheel, when others have paved the way before them -if you live your life with this tpe of attitude, what an incredible waste of time your life must be? Frags
