Who cares what she wore??? Come on guys she was still the best performer of the night. I think that he said this partly for the fact that the dress wasnt the best choice but mostly to help get the votes up for her. Really, if he didnt say his comments last week to Rob do you think that he would have been back this Sunday - No he would have been on the phone on Tuesday as it was suggested.
Let vote for Paulini just to see how she blows us away next week.
At least these comments are real and not fairyfloss like Sweety Marcia or dropkick Marks.

Before last night when I watched Idol I looked forward to Dicko's comments on the singers performances because you could count on him to be honest (although sometimes slightly harsh) but pretty much a straight shooter who was trying to be constructive with his criticism without being nasty. After last night i see Dicko doesn't know there is a fine line between pointing out reality to the singers to help them do better next week, and cruelly humiliating them in front of 1 million viewers by basically saying - your to fat to wear that "Lose pounds" . Remember a few weeks back when it was the the judges who said Australian voters should be concentrating on the vocal ability of the singers and not just on looks...well Dicko you hypocrite. Of course the singers must put put on an all round visual performance for the home viwers, judges and live audience but in a singing competition such as this one should judges (Dicko and Mark) be focusing on a gold dress (perhaps) mishap? Or the voice of the best female singer by far in the whole competition?

He said Aust. voters should concentrate on vocal ability, BUT - Paulini coming out in that horrendes dress, sturting her big ass in front of the cameras, has done exactly the opposite, that people look at the dress, her curves (too much, please), instead of concentrating on her voice. What could Dicko do, saying again - no, don't look at this cheap immitation of Beyonce, just listen to her voice, people! But, this tells me something about Paulini's character. and I don't like it. Dear Paulini, can I see your face and hear your voice next time, instead of your big ass? Thank you dear, well done!

You know, I didn't even notice that there was any problem with Paulini's appearance last night. I was focussing on her amazing voice, amazingly sexy expression (face, body and voice) and her hair looked great! Maybe I am the only enlightened person who watched the show and is reading this forum. Maybe I am the only person out of my teens...?

i thought that paulini's dress was horrendous and disgusting, but the fact it looked hideous was nothing to do with her. it was just a gross dress. maybe it would have looked better on someone a bit skinnier but i doubt it. mark's comment was justfied (never thought i'd say that) but dicko went over the line. what he said was rude, hurtful & unneccesary. i have 2 theories about this: 1) Dicko was told to be meaner, as he is meant to be the one people hate, yet in comparison to mark, many loved him. 2) the judges criticised paulini harshly in a deliberate attempt to win her sympathy votes & keep her out of the bottom 3. just my opinions here, dont get mad lol

Who hates this girl so much to put her in those clothes!... Why did she do it? Leave Dicko alone. His comment was in place. I think that Paulini's change of appearance was in response to the judge's comments that she needs to appear more youthful. They said it last night and they've said it previously that Paulini is almost *too* mature. Cosima is constantly being praised for recreating her image each week and following up the judges' advice - clearly Pauline felt encouraged to do the same thing. She chose a young, sexy song, and obviously attempted to wear a young, sexy outfit. I really think its irrelevant whether she looked horrible or not - even if she did it did not justify Dicko's public humiliation of her. Earlier in the episode he made a reference to giving a tape of dance moves to a contestant (Paulini? Cosima?) so obviously he has ample opportunity during the week to discuss matters with Paulini. Dicko should have just said it was an unflattering outfit and that she should stick to her more classic look of black pants (if that was his belief) and left the 'fat' comment for a private chat after the show. I can only guess that his comment was made to add a bit of scandal and sensation and possibly a grab for ratings. It's funny, though - Dicko's comment was exactly the kind of thing that would inspire me to switch off, not vice versa. I hope he apologises.

Dicko has always been a straight shooter and he could have been much more cruel to Paulini and given the audience a laugh at her expense. That he didn't speaks of his respect for her. Perhaps he shouldn't have said it on national TV, but that's not his style and more importantly, he voiced what alot of people were thinking. That gave her sympathy and more votes than she probably would've gotten otherwise, because she did lose lots of respect (in my eyes at least).
He told her she was sexy last week, so I doubt he sees anything wrong with her figure. What he did see wrong was her choice of a dress for her type of figure. She looked stunning and classy until that point.

i dont know how the judges can handle the pressure of day to day life on Australian Idol. I think they are pretty tough.

Look, Dicko was just doing his job. Yes, the comments were harsh - very harsh. No, I don't think Paulini is fat - far from it! The problem is that television adds about 20 pounds to everyone who appears on it - making them look bigger than they actually are. Paulini is probably only a healthy size 12, it just happens that she chose to wear an outfit that didn't flatter her figure and that's what Dicko is talking about (even though he crossed the line to make his point clear and I agree that it was a bad judgement call on his part to go to that extreme in his comments).
I don't think designer Charlie Brown designed that dress for anyone over size 6. But give Paulini credit for trying to follow the judges advice - dress to match the song, try different styles, be adventureous. She did all of that, and I for one, respect her and honour her for trying.
At the end of the day, this competition should be about their talent and their personal style. Okay, so now we (and Paulini) know that a figure-hugging gold dress isn't her style. Let's move on people. She's sexy and smart and brilliant. I'll keep voting for her because I think she's the best. Don't lose respect for her because she wore a damn dress that didn't suit her. God, if that were the case, Cosima would have been voted out weeks ago.
