Actually New York, New York is one of my favourites, it's such a catchy song. I didn't know Shannon hadn't been a fan of Sinatra, had he seen videos prior to his performance? Maybe it's a real talent he has because there were times in that performance that he just seemed older, I was impressed. In the end it depends on Shannon's ambitions. Maybe he just loves to sing, entertain and make a reasonable amount of money. Why not? ;D sfa he is a true australian country boy that one...if you havenot seen the original audition he did (try to get a copy and watch the judges' reaction to him after he left the room .... that's a classic) , Mark said he could be like Vince Gill...Shan did not know who Vince Gill is ..and then dorkily said Oh yeah Vince Gill... I get you now.. ;D ;D even I know who Vince Gill is ..never heard him sing but have seen his names on American music award shows.... Sinatra died some years back so unless Shannon watch old movies which I doubt and big band music is not exactly the rage in rural Australia ..... I don't think Sinatra will ring a bell at all with Shan let alone become a fan. I think Shannon loves to sing and perform... a lot of concert reviews on his yahoo site said he was excellent live, has a good band, his brother is a mean drummer and sounds even better than his cd. and Rochelle said in a magazine interview said that all who know him and seen him on stage said he was born to do what he is doing now. And the best thing is I am going to see him in a couple of weeks!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!

Well just because you sing different styles doesn't mean that you are good at them. That is what I meant by locked in. However, I read Guestt post on Shannon and I am gonna listen again to some of his other downloads. Cus I did like his voice on that song. Some of the downloads I thought were really shaky. Maybe I didn't give him a fair chance Guest? But thanks for imforming me...will have a listen again!!! I agree. I may be a big Shannon fan but someof his performances were shaky.. I think he gets really nervous before a show and I have seen him take a couple of deep breaths to calm himself. He needs to have more exposure performing in front of big audiences instead of small pub crowds.. but since the show finished, he has improved. someone went to a New Year's eve concert at Forbes and then to a recent one said he and his band improved tremendously in the last few months so that show and the short QLD tour was a learning curve for him..

I loved Shannon's audition, that was a beautiful voice, I'd like to hear more of that. Perhaps what I thought was Shannon acting old was just his dancing style.
