I think it WOULD have been much fairer to have had one song from the show and one of their own from outside of the show or, if they've not released anything yet either another song from the show or a song of their own choice. I know it's difficult 'cos everyone's done different things, but one song is impossible to judge on really isn't it? Especially when you consider that to win their titles, all the contestants had gone through months of competition ... it wasn't based on a one-off performance - when a number of factors could affect your performance!
Stil, I don't think it was really done to really decide a world idol - I think it was all to do with media hype, exposure and, of course, money for the organisers!! But not, I'm sure, for the contestants who were not able to get out of it and did not earn big bucks for doing it - I'm sure!!

[quote author=Chicagoholic link=board=widol&thread=1073013595&start=51#3 date=1073388046 Alicja, Alexander, Jamai, Heinz, Guy all had better songs to sing. I'm not too sure about Will, Peter, Diana, Ryan cause I don't know what songs they had which really pleased the crowd.[/quote] This was one, click on the video link below link

Was a totally weird show. Most people here can see that it was severly edited and manipulated. And why did we in America only have 2 hours to vote?? And, they showed it here on XMAS evening. I had to leave my family, and the dinner table, and go and watch the show. To me it was bad timing. Anyway, Guy rocks!! Moving on... People were preoccupied with other things apparently because the ratings showed more people tuned in the second hour than the first here in USA. An additional 800 thousand households tuned in the second hour. (after they're done with Xmas dinner I guess) All those people missed Guy's performance too since they had him performing second here - like in the first 20 minutes of the first hour. I almost forgot the show was comming on too, because I hadn't been following Idol news. But I saw the ad and remembered just in time. The timing could have something to do with why the show was low rated in general. or they could just be getting tired of the whole idol thing like me - Guy actually help renew my interest. Although I'd still prefer american Idol 3 to be the last.
