Slightly off the idol topic but what do you think of the whole baby Bob takes a walk in the crocs den story.

After seeing that on the news, I knew there would be an uproar about it.
I thought it was stupid. Sure he knows what he's doing and whatnot, but all it takes is one wrong move. So what if he had to run for it? Plus the way he was holding the baby while the croc took the food reminded me too much of MJ. Don't they need lots of support at that age?
He's great and all but that was just too attention whorish imo.

It was silly move but way over blown in the media and definately not worth worldwide attention. yes something could have gone wrong but it was unlikely given his experience and the fact that he was working with a trained animal. The risk was there but it was minimal. Then again reminds me of teh Seigfred and Roy tiger...

I didn't doubt the Crocodile Hunter at all.
I bet his father did the same thing to him when he was a baby... and look how he's turned out now! lol. Really, if Steve's going to do things like that, he should just do it OFF camera. That's all

I agree with that... and then I have friends from the US saying that it's not such a bad thing... jeez... I'd never put a child in that sort of danger. I don't like people defending him by saying he's a "trained professional". Even trained professionals have their off days. And animals are unpredictable. Eeh it just bugs me... I don't like him anyway, I think he's a nutcase...

It was a bit irresponsible and ill advised. I am suprised that he did not realise the uproar it would cause. As you say anything couldv'e happened and the fact that he thought he was in control and teaching the baby seems a bit silly to me. At that age they can barely focus enough to see their way to the boob. Their range of view is very limited. What can you actually teach a one month old by dangling it near a croc. Oh dear Steve you have been a bit silly. Still like him though. I was just thinking about his wife standing there to take the baby off him. If that had been me I would have snatched Bob and ran away as fast as I could. I suppose she is used to his crazinesss. She always seems completely besotted with him.

Did anyone else here know that he is Barry Humphrey's (i.e. Dame Edna Everage) nephew?
