Watched the first idol show tonight. I am so amazed at the americans total confidence in theirselves even the ones that were awful were so self believing. Is that a national thing do you think or just the type of people that will audition for idol. The other thing that amazed me is how much air time they gave to the worst performances. We only got to see a few of the people who actually went through. The rest was all the weird people, the bad singers and controversy with the judges. It would have been nice to see some good voices in there. But they are entertaining in a strange way.

I thought they should have shown more of the people who got through. But then the bad people were pretty entertaining.
I also couldn't get over how many people thought they were idol material when they couldn't even sing a note in tune.
I felt kinda bad for the guy who sang the nsync song, and simon and randy just started laughing. I would have cried or something if I was in his position!

I agree with you Mo. I would have liked to have seen more of the people that got in. At one point I thought I blinked and I missed something when they showed that girl with the short red/pink hair and the next thing they were telling her she made it in and we weren't shown her singing.
It was entertaining, but it seemed kind of like Top Worst Auditions at times. As funny as it was, it was also sad to see how oblivious they were to how bad they actually sounded. Especially that one girl who did a rendition of Flashdance, with her friend still saying how good she was.

That struck me too...the unbelievably high levels of self-confidence. Especially that chick who lost 80 pounds for the show or something, who was there with that friend who kept putting her hand up to the camera on their way out. I can't believe anyone can be so self absorbed! Watching so many talentless, pig-headed people just reaffirmed how good Guy really is. The other thing I couldn't believe was how all those people walked out on that girls performance in the restaurant. Yes-she was terrible and obviously a bit delusional, but I would have thought people would have immediately stuck up for her after hearing she was in a bet with Simon Cowell. I would never have had to heart to walk out, unless the person was singing something offensive.

I'm gonna reserve my judgement until the initial auditions are over and they get down to the nitty gritty in Hollywood - hopefully it'll get better then.
Wasn't really impressed coz we didn't see many of the ones that actually got through just a load of over-confident bad singers. Tell you what though - I think Dicko is brilliant (always did, but more so now), Simon is okay but not as witty or original. Did anyone else notice that someone sung 'Ribbon In The Sky' just as Guy did for his audition, the American bloke that sung it was awful.

the blue pages are deserted at the moment, i have taken the liberty of stealing some of the above posts to place there under "the world is poised to judge",
i have left your names out and will delete them if reqd.
what about the elvis guy like the scooter girl he used a gimmick.
carmen the concept will grow on you again as you become entrenched.
