Judging by the way the judges reacted towards Guy's performance I reckon he's got a shot at being signed to BMG internationally. Wouldn't that be awesome!

Yeah they might be like "oh but he came 7th! Obviously the world doesn't think he is that great" but if they have any brains they should sign him up!

I've explained why I think Guy didn't go so well. It was his originality.
If he'd have sung Wonderful World the way it was originally sung he'd have gained a lot more votes, but he didn't - which IS a good thing. It showed the music industry his talents.
He could have performed Climb Every Mountain or something and won but he sang a feel good number which made him happy and entertained the crowd at the same time.
It's easy to make a carbon copy of another song - the way Kurt did, but while it may be good, it doesn't show any originality. What did Kurt do to make the song his? Nothing. While Will Young isn't exactly what I like, he also performed in such a way that he made that song his.

I think he will do well. I dont think the voting reflected the real feelings of the people. I suspect that they were more interested in getting their own idol home! Then there were the judges comments and the political situation both musically and otherwise. Lots of other things affected the voting!!

www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/01/02/1072908880337.html?from=top5Sebastian came seventh but said he was not disappointed. "I am not really disappointed. I am happy it is over and I get to come home," Sebastian said. ... He said the experience "couldn't hurt" his international career. "I have had really good feedback from the really musical people around the place and good feedback from all of the other idols and their representatives from BMG around the world," Sebastian said. i love guy!! the world will too!

I don't think it is really a prime time for Guy to launch an international career. I don't think he is considered as some talentless loser seeings as how the judges gave him such glowing feedback, but then again-he only got 7th place, which I think will affect how people perceive him. (Blunt, but true. ) However...I reckon that his style of music will appeal to other countries, particularly the US. I think he will be able to make his mark overseas...just maybe not right at this moment. But when he does-won't everyone faces be red!

Just came back to this thread to see if you'd all read the latest about WI in the paper today - but you beat me too it. Sorta supports what I was trying to say - that he has a pretty damn good shot at the international market with all the other idols BMG representatives being so fond of him!
