Voting System from - US World Idol site
How is the voting structured? Each country gets to vote using their own voting systems. The home contestant from each participating country (e.g. Kelly Clarkson in the United States) will automatically start with the highest points (12) awarded from their own country. Viewers from each country will then vote on the remaining ten contestants and once the votes are tallied and the position of each contestant is determined (1st place, 2nd place etc.) points will be awarded in accordance with the Points System below.
Points System: Home country contestant – 12 points 1st place – 10 points 2nd place – 9 points 3rd place – 8 points 4th place – 7 points 5th place – 6 points 6th place – 5 points 7th place – 4 points 8th place – 3 points 9th place – 2 points 10th place – 1 point
The points each Idol gets from all of the countries will be tallied and added together by an independent vote management company to determine their overall position in the contest.

Similar to Eurovision, except Home contestant automatically gets 12 points, I think this is a clever idea, cause it will inspire more people to vote, knowing no-one can come above their own contestant.
So no point in trying cheat OZ, Guy will get 12 points from you, and Will will get 12 points from the UK!

I only have one problem with this.......in Eurovision I have noticed that some countries award their highest points to other countries that they KNOW will award their highest points to them in return (And they do it every year!).....if this happens with World Idol.... some countries may automatically give their 10 points in this same manner and won't that unfairly advantage some contestants?
Just wanted to add that I hope all viewers from all countries (Australia included) base their votes on who they genuinely think is the most talented and not on the 'be a friendly neighbour' policy!
Guy will absolutely rock the world in world idol!...GO GUY!

Eurovision is known for this!! And when watching its so predictable, the Eastern Block in Europe are brought up to help their neighbouring countries, so what happens is they all vote for each other, and thats why Eurovision has been in Eastern Europe the last few years. Of course The UK always votes honestly, because we have no friends in Europe!! Thats partly why Eurovision is a joke. Thats the risk in this competiton no matter, what voting system, you can't stop political voting. The Junior Eurovision seemed a lot less Political, so maybe World Idol maybe similar, though I can't see the UK and US getting 10 Points from the Arab vote somehow!

I truly hope people put politics aside in World Idol and just focus on what it's about........singing talent! Call me naive.....but I would like to think that Arab voters would vote for Kelly (USA), Will (UK) or Guy (Australia) if they thought they were good!
To all world Idol viewers.....vote for the people you think have the most talent.......it shouldn't matter where they come from or what their countries politics are!......Allow the winner of world Idol the ultimate victory of winning FAIRLY!
GUY will totally rock the world in world idol!
