Guy's last shot at fame
December 05, 2003
WHEN Guy Sebastian sang Sound of Music classic Climb Every Mountain on Australian Idol, many said it was the song that won him the competition.
We can reveal that Sebastian will sing that song on World Idol.
Sebastian will fly to London next week to record the special, and producers have given him a gift – he will perform last out of all the 11 Idols from around the world.
According to Centrebet, Sebastian is equal favourite with Kelly Clarkson from the US to win the competition, with Brit Will Young third.
Singing last will only help his chances.
BMG has shipped 300,000 copies of Sebastian's debut album, Just As I Am, to record stores.
The buzz around the shops is that the album will be the one to knock Delta Goodrem off top spot.
Speaking at a Foxtel programming launch in Sydney, Idol host Andrew G, who will fly to London for World Idol, told The Eye that Sebastian was an amazing talent."It is an honour to know him," he said.
At the launch, Andrew G was joined by Foxtel colleagues Antonia Kidman and recruit Magda Szubanski.
Szubanski, who stars in Kath and Kim, will front a new show on TV1 called Big Cool Summer.
She will travel the country visiting sites such as the Big Pineapple, the Big Banana, and the Big Avocado.
Foxtel will also screen live the Golden Globe awards for the first time on January 26, including coverage of the red carpet.
