because of their language european [except uk] are affected by their harsh accents and don't do well and spain and italy aren't represented,,,guy has a huge chance with his neutral and angelic voice.

Clarkson should be stiff competition. Who knows, maybe the current anti american wave might bring her down a few notches. Guy's smoother. There's something about her I don't connect with even though she's a strong voice and not painful to look at. I find her stage presence less pronounced than Guy's. She's good, but Guy's better. Paulini over Clarkson any day and Guy over both.

If I had to pick a country to win it (other than Aust) it just couldnt be America. America's just got the superiorists attitude that really sets them up for all the other countries to take em down.

I agree with other sentiments expressed here, Kelly Clarkson while good just doesn't have Guy's smooth moves, angelic voice and sweet cherub looks, he has something so natural and likeable he will just draw people in the world over!! Our Guy's the Guy to bring home that world title!!

Kelly screams too much. She's like Cosima - but she just happens to scream better. Screaming gets attention, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they're the better singer.
Look at Paulini, a strong voice - she hits the high notes flawlessly and without much effort. Then you look at people like Kelly Clarkson and Cosima who tend to scream out the notes rather than sing them.

Guy would appeal to the American audience more than Will Young. Will is your typical boy band manufactured toy. Guy has it all, wholesome, funky, shivers down the spine factor. Will doesn't come close.
So to answer the question, yes I think Guy has a very good chance. As long as he's not too knackered and loses his voice due the rediculous pressure he is under.

You have to understand that these kind of competitions (like Eurovision contest every year) are very biased and politicised. Neighbours are voting for neighbours. I see no our neighbours who could vote for us -hhhhmmmm, maybe Americans - as Johnny Howard is a real stick ass brownosing their George Doubya. Otherwise we are stuffed! Half of Europe is totally musically deaf (believe me I'm from there), so they'll just go for popularity vote and good looks, ie. if Canadian Ryan (what was his name....) gets more on their radios and tv, they'll get more familiar with his voice, and more comfortable wwith voting for him, rahter than "some" Guy Sebastian. they never heard before, despite of his outstanding voice. Europe is very shallow - if you'd know little about their pop music, you'll know what I'm saying. It is a worry, I know.

If he pulls off a repeat of the "Climb Every Mountain" performance in the WI comp, the impact should be pronounced just as it was here. Granted it's not possible to appeal to *everybody*, but that particular performance made headlines amongst the followers of AI, including many who weren't Guy fans. Should he present them with something like that, given patriotic voting will be limited to expatriates and tourists, Guy will be noticed regardless of how tone deaf somebody maybe.
Excuse the pathetic syntax. I'm wrecked today.
