Australian Idol's voting system is unfair.
In politics, how many times do you get to vote? ONCE. On Yahoo opinion polls, how many times do you get to vote? ONCE.
In Australian Idol, how many times do you get to vote? AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE! How can AI's method possibly be fair?
Lets see: a vote costs 55 cents. Lets say, for arguments sake, I was Cosima's sister, and was intent on putting $10,000 worth of votes towards her career. That's 18,182 votes from THE ONE PERSON.
So there you have it: in one person's mind, Cosima is worth 55 cents (one vote) and in her sister's mind, Cosima is worth $10,000 (nearly 20,000 votes).
That's not representative of the public's opinion, that represents how much money ONE person is willing to invest in phone calls.
It simply is not fair. Channel 10 and Australian Idol are taking the Australian Public for mugs!

Hey just trying to circulate an opinion here, and no offense was intended. But for any newcomers or people who missed out on my other threads, you're still welcome to post your thoughts on this page. I love you all (I really do!) and just want to make sure that there are others out there who think the same as me. Y'know, just so I know that I'm not crazy or anything. By the way, Guy rocks Go the 'Fro!

do you honestly think that this is really a competition? the record company that dicko works for can so easily make sure that they get the 'idol' that they want - let alone other people wasting their money.

What about something inbetween. What if it was say 20 calls (or smx) per phone number for the same person. That means if say you had 5 people in your household and you all liked the same person that would be 4 votes each for that contestant. And you may all like to vote for another as well. It would stop the huge amount of calls that some people make (one person had made about a thousand). The only people who will suffer is Telstra.

It's all a rip off. All of these phone in shows. I mean do you really, really know if the votes are true. Who would ever know, they could rig it to suit their rating with each weeks winners/losers. I always thought this was the case with BB. I wouldn't even use this voting system, it should be free (as it is in other countries) and one vote only.
