Cosima in that lampshade dress was doing it for the SONG..........just as Paulini was doing for her SONG. Why dont yall just get over that dress she wore, I bet she's over it herself. Move on and look forward to better things......................LIKE PAULINI WINNING AI!!!

Doesn't anyone realise Dicko wasn't criticising Paulini's figure - only the dress. What about the other week when he said she looked so sexy he thought she'd be in trouble with her mum!!!
That style of dress doesn't suit many people, and someone in the spotlight should be aware that on camera everyone looks much bigger than they really are.
Dicko is in the business of making images, and this show is about the whole package.

Australia is a particularly misogynistic (woman hating ) country. Because of the unrealistic body images set for women, not only are woman self loathing when they can't attain those body images,(who can maintain the BMI of an anorectic supermodel who spends four hours exercising a day and eats nothing but rabbit food), but women hate each other- and follow the example set by men ie They are conditioned to act like the "fat police" to each other. Unfortunately the pattern that I see on this forum is that there is a self esteem scale for women which reads Fat---------------------------------------------------------SLUT
Many Australian men on the other hand are "boyos" - the lovable larakin who can behave abominably , remember the male hosts' praising comments about one of the male contestants "never spending one night in his own bed since being on idol?" The "boyo" is , and still expects to be loved and valued for his behaviour, but a woman could never get away with that- again she would be seen as a slut. You might be surprised to learn that many men have insecurities about their upper body shape -ie most find that their upper body is not muscular enough- and fear being the 9 stone weakling , who girls kick sand on at the beach. Men are rarely asked to go and "Bulk Up" to the unrealistic level of Schwarzenegger though - But women are encouraged to lose their curves and adopt the anorectic supermodel image - they are rewarded for having figures like boys, so they can wear those skimpy dresses (Like cossima wears), without "offending" people - then consequently, when she wears such a revealing dress - she may not be seen as fat , but she is demoted to the other end of the self esteem spectrum, and becomes a "slut". As one writer has noted - if men want women to have beanpole figures like boys, then maybe they should start questioning their own sexual preference and contemplate going gay. Frags

What I dont understand is that on the 80's show Marcia said "I hope Australia is voting for a voice" and everyone seemed to agree with her. Then why make that comment about Paulini and her looks if the show is just about their singing ability.
