The reation to the judges after the first episode has varied from individuals who enjoyed hearing what the judges had to say and those who didn't.
Here are a few thoughts sent in tonight after the Australian Idol premiere.
Hi. After sitting down & watching the show this evening with my Daughter (8), I was bitterly disappointed at the absolute arrogance & extreme rudeness of the judges when dismissing contestants. My daughter was so upset, that she was crying. How dare that decrepit prick "thingyo", take the piss out of people who are trying their best. A "No thanks" would be sufficient, but no, that arrogant bastard had to stoop to personal insults (that one about being able to be beaten up by Nicky Webster was TOO MUCH!!). Give me 30 seconds with that F##ker & I would have him in tears!!! I have absolutely no talent whatsoever, but would be more than willing to stand up to his insults (you are nothing but a try hard Red Symmons). Marcia, I am saddened, as I used to be fond of your music, but now I know where it comes from (definitely not the heart), I will not be able to enjoy it as I once did. That other thingyhead, not even worth mentioning. My daughter is studying violin & I was hoping your show would encourage her to excel. The total opposite was the result. Again, to sit there & see people in such positions of influence, totally demoralise these people with personal insults, enrages me. I am also quite sure, that most of Australia will see he is an utter arse!! Please feel free to get him to contact me & have a chat. Rob J
i think your show is the best!!!!The JUDGES are pretty GOOD did i say pretty i mean EXCELLENT. From Prue

LOL @ Rob - have a cry mate. The show is PG (I think) so maybe it's better if you just didn't let your daughter watch it all from now on.
I can't remember which judge said it, but they are right. If a singer can't take the first critism they get - then they may probably never make it. The judges are doing their job - I mean 100 people out of how many thousands??
The getting beaten up by Nicky Webster one was hilarious!! One of the BEST! I had no problem with most of the insults - I mean, OK, so these particular judges don't like your singing - that doesn't mean that as a person they think you are terrible. Some of the contestants completely over-reacted and should look at it in perspective.
Yes, a couple of the comments were TOO harsh - and a "no thanks" WOULD have been a lot better. That did disappoint me, but we really didn't see everything ya know. But overall I thought it was fine, added a very humorous element, made more drama = more entertaining = more advertising $$$ for TEN.

I have posted a message already about the judges. Only Marcia Hines was constructive enough to leave those contestants with some pride. You don't laugh at people when they are performing. That is just plain rude! Even if they can't sing, you can just tell them they are not what you are looking for. But to just laugh at them, I think that is totally unncessary. Marcia, keep going, you're great. The other two, you both need to stop taking yourselves so seriously.

Um, it WAS MARCIA that was laughing during one! I thought that was very disrespectful.

I liked the comment made by one guy about dicko 'cut your hair mate'
The judges are a little too harsh on some occasions, but it was entertaining. I don't know how i feel about the judges yet. The guys have mullets which is a turn off and i dont really see Marcia as anyone special. But we'll see how it all goes on Sunday.
