White bags black, black bags white, Muslim bags Christian, Christian bags Muslim yadda yadda yadda..
Two things I wonder.. what the hell does colour/race etc have to do with how much one does or doesn't deserve acclaim for their talent
AND
one more thing.. if *you* had been born into the race/religion you bag today, would you still hold the same stance? Chances are, you'd be bagging whatever you weren't born into just as you're doing today.
Oh how pitiful thou art thinking you're the chosen one above all else, regardless of what race *you* belong to.
I believe it intrinsically true, that somewhere along the line of your existance, a person OTHER than your own race has given value to your life, whether it was through a medical discovery that treated an illness of yours, a gadget invention that you can't do without today, or whatever else. How sad that people can be so superficial as to base talent acclaim on cultural/race differences, let alone consider themselves above and beyond others based on colour.
*******
To those still at an age where their opinions can be swayed from marketing campaign to marketing campaign or worse, from post to post:
at least take the time to justify to *yourself* why you're allowing yourself to accept something as right or true. Look up the word INTROSPECTION, and then consider adopting it as part of your daily life.
I used to contribute to a site a few years ago, (unrelated to music or religion). I got lazy and perhaps vain, and decided to also post here something I had posted there.
"Nobody should consider themselves exempt from the need of this practice (introspection). It should be a dynamic process, moving with us as we grow. Without introspection, we only grow physically; mental and spiritual capacity risk being locked at inappropriate levels. No doubt we become susceptible to turmoil this way...whether in the hurting of others or in allowing others to hurt us OR in the very core values we lug around with us every day.
What follows could be modified to apply to each and every one of us and I dare say we'd be better people if we took heed of it.
“A politician would do well to remember that he has to live with his conscience longer than he does with his constituents.” - Melvin R. Laird, 20th-century American secretary of defense

I'm not particularly religious, though I do have my own beliefs, so if it matters, don't think this is any kinda religious preaching. Of course even if it was a religion based rant, it still shouldn't make a difference since I haven't even hinted about where I might lean towards.
What you say and do today, *CAN* affect your life tomorrow. Don't be fooled. If you're going to do or say something, make sure it's what YOU really believe, not what the masses or minorities want you to believe.
The person you bag today maybe the person you need, love, listen to, or even dance to tomorrow. In direct reference to the competition, just vote for who you want based on how well you think they perform and likely you'd be to buy their music. An album cover can have the ultimate artwork or something mediocre. It's what you hear from the album that should really matter.
Don't let the "image" of the idols sway you too much. Their image will change a gazillion times from here on, especially the girls. Vote based on how their song interpretation makes you feel. At the end of the day, unless you only buy DVD's, it's the music that matters. Marketability of the moment, is just that. It doesn't last too long if it's the primary criterion one is accepted for. (see fashion). As for artists who've been successfully around for eons, they are but a MINORITY in the tens of thousands in their field. The greater majority eventually wear the ungracious term of "has been, wanted to be, or worse "how the hell were they ever, to begin with?"
