You are all between 11 and 15 years old ? Yeah, sweet cause all this crap you are writing is just that, you talk about talent and singing from the heart, but none of you have a clue about music.

Boring… I write down a few bands or singers you say some wanky remark and we get nowhere, just wait a few years, you'll be embarrassed that you even watched the show or how bad your pubescent taste was.

FYI, I'm not 11-15 years old... I'm 19 in two weeks so you cant really judge us all. And how old are you exactly? I mean your obviously not very mature if you're making a post to tell us that the posts and the show is crap.. anyone else find that weird?? And like you know music? These people actually have talent unlike half the other crappy popstars in the world.. although they dont sing the greatest songs its about their performance and voices..

And you think we're pathetic...at least we have enough of a social life to be out and about most of the time, rather than sitting around bagging other peoples taste in TV shows

Boring… I write down a few bands or singers you say some wanky remark and we get nowhere, just wait a few years, you'll be embarrassed that you even watched the show or how bad your pubescent taste was. Sounds to me like you're possibly bitter that you didn't reach the success you yearned for in the entertainment industry. If lashing out here makes you feel better, go for it. There's room for everyone. Why, even racist homophobics are free to post here. Why not you? Out of curiosity, are you embarrassed about your own pubescent taste thus speaking from personal experience? You have generalised WAY TOO MUCH, cutting down the flowers with the weeds (weeds being those old enough to know the remarks they make are unsubstantiated garbage yet they make them anyway). You may decide to reply by saying that my comments about you are unsubstantiated, but the characterisations I have now of you, are ONLY derived from what you've given of yourself on the board. I never knew you existed before your post, nor did I form an opinion about you from what anybody else has said. Knocking kids the way you have about what they like is a dead end street. You don't like Australian Idol? That's fine. You don't like the fact that SO many do like it? That's tough for you! You could have come on here and offered constructive criticism if you disagreed with something, encouragement if you agreed with something, which would have been a reflection of the expected maturity one is generally meant to have reached at 45. Instead, you come on and start a thread very obviously with intent to aggravate things. The fact that you don't like the show is way fine by me. That's not what annoyed me about you. What annoyed me is the insult that whoever *does* like it, is clueless about music. I have made posts myself a number of times, trying to steer (especially) the younger ones away from superficial voting, and in doing so, I feel good about myself; this because I believe I've done it in a way that doesn't necessarily insult or at least without intent to. My initial reason for being on this board was to interact with others with a common interest, regardless of whether I agree with what they say or not. My reason for *staying* on the board, is to continue interacting with others sharing a common interest again regardless of whether they back the same contestant(s) as I do. What is your reason? My point if you haven't worked it out yet and need it spelt out to you, is that to me it seems your bitterness regarding your own success or lack thereof, makes you think you have a ticket to bag practically everybody. If you had reached the success that you craved as an entertainer, I highly doubt you would have given the proverbial rats arse about what the kids prefer or not, because chances are they'd have bought enough of your music. One shouldn't be embarrassed by what kind of music they liked at any stage of their life, whether it was The Nolan Sisters (remember them?), Kiss or Shakin' friggin Stevens. Growing is supposed to be a dynamic process, not a static one. Big deal if what was in then isn't now and vice versa. The fact remains everybody is entitled to their "pubescent" tastes as you put it. And just for the record, as a teenager I was mad about the band "Cure", adoring of U2 (way back when Basia hosted "Rock Around The World" on SBS), The Clash, The Stranglers, Leonard Cohen, Kiss, and yes Duran Duran too, as well as the late Patrick Cowley's music. Am I ashamed of any of it? NO. I still like all of them but even if I had grown to dislike any of them today, I was ENTITLED to like whoever I damn well pleased at that point in my life just as I am today. Who the hell are YOU at 45, to tell ME at 36 I'm clueless about music and that I'll be embarrassed in a few years to have watched AUSTRALIAN IDOL? For all you know, (and you never will) I could have an ARIA award sitting smack on the mantle opposite me. Or does this still leave me clueless about music? If you are a parent, I sure as hell hope you don't pass on your bitterness about your own shortcomings to your kid(s). THAT would be sad. You don't come across as "over it" at all. Your point is? **modified to correct typo.
