There seems to be no distinction being made between singers and performers.
What makes a great singer? performer?
In the context of this competition is one more important than the other?
And should the public know about Millsey's 3rd nipple?

Yes Indeed!!! ;D
Well to start the ball rolling, I think that Millsey's 3rd nipple is something that the Australian public should under no conditions, ever be shown. A guy that I met while I was talking to Levi's brother showed me a picture of it....ooOOOoo....not a good look.
However, despite that, Courtney Act as a way of demonstrating my point was quite an entertaining performer but a crap singer. There are many other examples of the same type of thing.
Cosima whose voice and singing ability I applaud is in my opinion only really beginning to make any ground as a performer. Once again there is more than one example to demonstrate the same point.
I would have been appalled to see someone such as Courtney Act continue because of his lack of vocal ability at this level. Should I be equally as appalled to see someone else continue whose performance ability is equally as lacking?

I reckon the singing ability is the key as when you're listening to a CD after the pub and a kebab you only need your ears to go with the hallucinations.

well my fave overall performer is Kelly. I'm not going to diss the others, as they are very good as well, just that Kelly is my fave.
Why? Since the first audition, I thought she had a lot going for her (and being from the same hometown is a bonus). And because she reminds me of Pat Benatar, do you guys remember her? She had the same gutsy voice so in that respect and a lot of appeal and qualities the buying public might like. She definitely has to diversify herself to other music, I like her rock songs, but wish she'll try something else like a ballad or something.
til next time...
cheers.

Yes I remember Pat Benetar very well.....however I wouldnt quite put Kelly up with her....yet. I do however think that Kelly has got a bit of a gusty voice. I also agree with you that she should try a ballad which would add an extra dimension to her repetoire if nothing else. But I dont find her to be a particularly engaging performer. At the same time there really are only about two or three that are actually engaging. Paulini has got the goods, she has a remarkable singing ability and a captivating performing style. Like it or not Guy is also a talented singer and performer too. He just needs to make sure that he doesnt warble himself off the stage and into oblivion with his "getting-boring-really-quickly-now" vocal gynastic events. The other two that I want to mention here are Levi and Cosima. Levi without a doubt is an engaging performer and Cosima as I have said previously, a great singer. Now this where it becomes interestingly predictable.
These two, along with Kelly are being and will continue to be very heavily affected by the voting demographic. The unfortunate but true fact about the voting demographic is that apart from friends and family, the only people that are really doing any consistent, or perhaps more correctly, obsessive voting are female, and they are about 10-18 years of age. This is a good thing for Rob,Levi and Guy. This is not so good for Cosima and Kelly. However the biggest loser I think may end up being Paulini. It is quite possible that she could be overlooked and ultimately ousted by the joust between prepubescent dreams of love and marriage to Guy, and the hot, wet, dripping angst of the Levi harem.
There may well be no room for sexy females like Cosima and Paulini especially if they look sideways at one of these guys or god-forbid lay a hand on one!
As for Kelly, she is doomed!!! Why? The demographic of course. What chance has she got when people are posting comments in relation to a SilverChair song - "She needs to choose more well known songs" The poor girl is gutted.

Its not all about being a good singer, Its about being a overall good entertainer/performer. Sure they have to have a good voice to listen to on cd's etc, but when it comes to the crunch of public appearances, can they cut it. I have sat and listened to heaps of singers at karaokes, and other talent comps and at shows, and have had my attention for a while, but after a while every song was the same, Give me an entertainer anyday, and they should be versitile. Iam speaking from the voice of exp, being an entertainer myself ranging from working in the UK, and Spain, and on several TV show,, this is what I found that people wanted. A good performer will hold the audiences attention what ever song they sing, from rocknroll to country what ever.
What Id like to know all you people giving comments, have you ever tried to sing or appear on stage , its not easy. But i do enjoy reading them all
