Geez - I wish Channel 10 would provide the percentages comprising the various groups that are voting - its my guess that teenage girls from all over the country are responsible for the majority of this partly unfair misrepresentation of available talent in Australia.
After three rounds we've seen Pete the Hog Farmer (bloke), Retired Footballer Daniel (bloke), Matt Small Eyes (ho hum another bloke), Kelly the Chainsaw (the ONLY girl to go through), Shannan Condoblin (bloke) and Benny Hill's Wig(bloke!)....
No problems with Shannan going through - he was good. I felt that both Martine, Rebekah and Jennifer sang the best out of the others but this is obviously all a misguided teenage phone-in. Guy was perhaps revolutionary in his way but the more I think about it the more I am hearing a mish mash of Tiny Tim, Stevie Wonder and Michael Bolton. Ask yourselves this - could you listen to an entire album by Benny or would you be reaching for the multi-coloured tablets after track 1? This is the pressing question. Look at the demise of The Chipmunks and you can see what I'm getting at. The novelty wears off.
Jennifer didn't get the vote cause she wasn't cutesy enough in the right way. Teenage girls would be too young and musically uneducated to appreciate Martine's Roberta Flack number and I would repeat that comment as regards to What A Wonderful World. Anyway - this contest is not about solely singing talent (patently obvious by now) - its about the shallow fairy floss bubble gum mentality of the majority of people who have voted.
Just call the whole thing off NOW and let Marcia sing.
