Mother's favourites top chart

Logie Awards performers Il Divo climbed five spots this week to be at number one on the Australian albums chart with their self-titled release.

The classic quartet, who told journalists they wanted to meet girls while in Melbourne for the television awards ceremony, were a favourite for Mother's Day gifts - alongside another recent visitor to Australian shores, Michael Buble, who gained two positions to be at two with It's Time.

Snoop Dogg remains atop the singles chart, with the top four unchanged from last week.

The US rapper's Signs, featuring Justin Timberlake, spends its second week in the chart at number one, followed by Will Smith's Switch at two, Rob Thomas' Lonely No More at three, and Let Me Love You by Mario at four.

Frankie J's Obsession, the first single from his forthcoming solo album, is the big mover, rising six spots to be at eight, while New Zealand duo P-Money and Scribe jump three places to nine with Stop The Music.

In the albums chart, Australians Missy Higgins and Anthony Callea follow at three and four respectively, with Callea's self- titled album rising three positions from last week.

John Farnham and Tom Jones' Together In Concert gains five spots to sit at sixth, while the Nine Inch Nails' first release for six years, With Teeth, enters the chart at 10.

Kyle hangs in there

THERE'S still time for the Ten network to change its Australian Idol line-up.

Auditions will be held at Moonee Valley racecourse this Friday and over the weekend, but it's still a couple of months before anything happens on our screens.

Meantime, radio's biggest and most boring self-promoter, Kyle Sandilands, is still on the Idol judging panel.

This character is so rude that he was late for an arranged interview recently with John Young (yes, formerly known as Johnny) on 6IX in Perth.

Sandilands claims to be a radio professional, so he should know the importance of things happening when they're supposed to.

Young justifiably gave him a good serve and decided he didn't want to interview him at all.

Well done, young John.

Sandilands has been so busy promoting his girlfriend Tamara Jaber's fourth-rate record, and promoting his own second-rate bad-boy act that he's lost sight of the basics.

It takes talent to be a real bad boy, but no talent to be a pretend one.

Two sides to this Idol life

We’re not sure which Guy (Confidential) was talking to when we met for a coffee in Hindley St yesterday.

See, the inaugural Idol has come to the conclusion there’s actually two Guy Sebastians. One is the business-like pop star who lives in Sydney’s exclusive Palm Beach – around the corner from Bec and Lleyton.

Then there’s the self-confessed dag who misses mum’s cooking.

“I’m just starting to get settled (in Sydney),” he said. “I mean, I miss Adelaide so much and it’s hard to move on when all your friends and family are here. It’s seriously like I have two lives. It’s so weird. There’s normal life when I’m back here.”<br>
We assume both Guys will be on stage when he returns for two shows at Her Majesty’s Theatre on May 27 and 28.
