Murmurs... April 26, 2005 SOME Casey Donovan fans still aren't satisfied that her label Sony BMG is doing enough to promote the Idol winner's upcoming gigs. One fan, Janette Smith, has appointed herself Donovan's unofficial publicist and has sent out an e-mail to all major media organisations pleading with them to plug the singer's gigs. "As a fan I feel as though her record company and management have let her down," the e-mail reads. "On behalf of all Casey's fans, I ask you to help support this up and coming talent." www.dailytelegraph.news.com.au/story.jsp?sectionid=1266&storyid=3020887

Pop-opera's awesome foursome 26apr05 FOUR hot blokes singing pop-opera have captured the hearts of young girls and greying grannies the world over. And it's Melbourne's turn to find out what all the fuss is about. The international "popera" group Il Divo will perform at the Logies at Crown on Sunday night but, before that, fans have a chance to meet the group on Friday. Urs Buhler, Sebastien Izambard, David Miller and Carlos Marin have sold more than two million albums across the globe. They were created by British music guru Simon Cowell, the founder of the Idol and X-Factor phenomena. Swiss-born Urs told The Eye his sky-rocketing fame had come as somewhat of a surprise. "It's just so overwhelming," he said. "I only met the others for the first time a year ago and then we went straight into four months in the studio." The former hard rocker said the hardest thing about his new life was missing his girlfriend in France. "I hardly ever see her," Urs said. "I hope she still knows me when I get back. I won't see her for six weeks and then see her for two days." He admitted that the increased female attention did "cause a lot of discussion in the beginning". Urs also revealed that Cowell was nothing like his "mean judge" persona on American Idol. "I had never heard of Simon Cowell until I walked into his office," he said. "But he's a very clever guy, very charming and very honest." Frenchman Sebastien is the group's only single man and has already said he's looking forward to meeting some lovely ladies here. THE boys will play three songs and sign copies of their album on Friday at 6pm at Chadstone Shopping Centre. www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,15085806%255E2902,00.html
