Some Casey ‘facts’<br>Issue 78
I would like to reply to the Margie Raynor letter (Letters to the Editor, March 31, 2005). I am very shocked that you would print something from someone who cannot back her comments up with facts.
Where did she get the idea that Casey’s stepdad had bagged the record company? Far from it, in fact, he is an optimistic, easy going guy.
The big issue is that Casey has hardly been promoted since winning Australian Idol, her promo tour was not widely publicised and I would not have known about it if it were not for Casey’s family telling me via email.
Why were there posters of Anthony in every Target store in Sydney and other cities the day after Casey was announced as the Australian Idol? I can’t find any posters of Casey for my daughter and neither can any of the Casey fans I have spoken to.
We have sent letters to SonyBMG to update their website to let everyone know about Casey’s Concert at Revesby Workers Club on 21 May, 2005 but they have not updated the website as yet. Now she will be doing a concert at St Mary’s on 20 May, booked after the Revesby concert - and coinciding with Anthony’s concert. Why would a manager of both artists do that when there are many fans of both Idols?
Where are the promos for Casey’s concert?
Casey’s Debut album “For You” has gone triple platinum so I don’t know why someone would say she isn’t doing well at all. Her single ‘Listen With Your Heart’ was at No 1 in the Aria charts for several weeks. ‘Rain’ has already dropped after just one week. I use this comparison only to point out that Casey has been pilloried in the press because of ‘The Prayer’s’ success, yet will we hear Anthony pilloried because his first original single isn’t doing as well?
I do want to put these comparisons behind me, but the press are not avoiding them and someone has to speak up for Casey. Casey needs a manager that will manage her, not push her to one side and forget about her.
Show her the respect she earned with all her hard work. And make her 17th birthday on May 13 truly shine!
By the way, at their own expense, Casey’s fans have created a beautiful new forum to share information - www.caseydonovanforum.com
