www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,10108919%5E2902,00.html Cosima chisels out a career Herald sun 12jul04 AS Australian Idol starts tomorrow night, one of the more interesting stars to watch from Idol show number one is is Cosima De Vito. The West Australian was rejected by BMG, and has decided to release a cover of the Cold Chisel hit When The War Is Over independently in August. It will be delivered to radio in the next couple of weeks and a film clip has already been filmed. We're told that De Vito was in the US last month recording with none other than Dianne Warren, who is one of the most successful music producers in the US. Her speciality is huge ballads that would suit De Vito's voice perfectly. She is recording an album with Warren, and recently while in the US met American Idol judge Randy Jackson, who was blown away with her voice. Expect a national promotional tour in the next few months from De Vito.

herald sun news More tests for Molly From The Eye 12jul04 STAY tuned for more Molly Meldrum on Channel 7. Molly confirmed to The Eye that he is working on a new show for the network based around the history of popular music. "One show is going to be the history of Australian music, plus overseas history, which will combine and be through my eyes," he said. The idea was Channel 7's, after Molly finished his work on Popstars Live. "We are going to go right back," he said. "It will go right through, how Australia was the first to give international No.1s to Blondie, Billy Idol, Madonna and track Kylie's history for example. Other than being a straight documentary series, Molly said it would be more entertainment based, with interviews. Since day one Popstars Live was almost universally criticised for being flat and a poor imitation of Australian Idol. Molly stands by the two who got a record deal out of the show, Kayne Taylor and Miranda Murphy, but understands producers got it wrong from the start. "The talent was there but the way the show was put together initially at the star from Fox studios was probably wrong," he said. "They finally got it right as it emerged, but I can understand why the critics had a go at the first show." Molly had some kind words to say about the whole Popstars/Australian Idol format, if an artist has time to develop. "Obviously with somebody like Guy Sebastian, they came up with fantastic talent," he said. "It's great to hear that Guy is in America working with great producers," he said. At the weekend, Molly was one of the stars of Seven's Life Expectancy Test, and was pictured having a drink to celebrate the occasion. www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,10108740%255E10431,00.html
