Pop goes Kayne

MELBOURNE boy Kayne Taylor ended up winning Popstars Live, but strangely was not available for interviews yesterday.
The official line from his new record label, Universal Music, was that he made a few brief radio appearances and spent the rest of the day in meetings discussing his future.
A more cynical source in the industry said Taylor was not doing many interviews because Universal was trying to distance itself from Popstars, which turned into "Flopstars" for Channel 7 on Wednesday nights.
It averaged just 295,582 viewers in Melbourne, compared with 367,708 for the grotesque Extreme Makeover on Channel 9.
In stark contrast, Australian Idol star Guy Sebastian was cheerfully on the phone to The Eye at 10am the day after his big win and was available to speak to everybody who wanted to talk to him.
And Idol was 10 times bigger than Popstars in ratings terms.
Sebastian would have been much busier, so Universal's excuse doesn't add up.
Taylor's first single, Heartbreaker, was available to radio yesterday.
FOX FM confirmed it would play the single, most likely on the Hot 30 countdown.
The chances that Nova will play the single are slim, and MIX FM hadn't even heard it yesterday morning.
"We will looks at it closely in the next couple of weeks and see how it goes," MIX music director Daniel Akerman said.
All eyes will be on the music charts to see if Heartbreaker makes an impact.
Don't despair, fans of runner-up Miranda Murphy. It won't be the last you hear of her.
We're told that her single That Girl will be released this month.
