Delta stars in Logies March 21, 2004
POP star Delta Goodrem has accepted an invitation to present an award at next month's Logies in Melbourne. The Sunday Telegraph understands Goodrem, who won a Logie last year, was contacted on Friday by organisers and agreed to take part in the ceremony.
Goodrem underwent chemotherapy last year for Hodgkin's lymphoma and is now awaiting test results.
The nominations for the 2004 Logies will be announced tomorrow.
Favourites for the Gold Logie include Goodrem - a Neighbours star who has sold one million copies of her debut album Innocent Eyes - and Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian.
"Obviously, I can't say anything, but Delta is Australia's golden girl, so she has a pretty good chance of being up there," TV Week editor Emma Nolan said.
Logies executive producer Peter Wynne said: "I don't think Delta is a sure thing for the gold. There are a lot of people who love shows such as All Saints and McLeod's Daughters. I'd expect they carry a lot of voting power."
Wynne said winners' speeches would be kept to 50 seconds.
"Our record is Ruth Cracknell, at 17 minutes, and last year Don Lane spoke for 13 minutes but (Logies host) Eddie McGuire has an amazing ability to keep things moving at pace."
The Logies are at Crown Casino on April 18.
