thanks to midsummer Guy gets to go fishing too Feb 29th 2004 Unlike most reality brats (think Reggie, Amity, Piaf, blah blah), the insatiable appetite for Guy Sebastian just won't dissipate. And it's not just his angelic voice that is in demand. He of the halo-ed afro is also in demand for speaking roles which have seen him ham it up with the best of them on Rove as well as play co-host on Nine's Saturday morning music show So Fresh, which airs next week alongside regular hosts Elysia Pratt and David Whitehill. "It's a cool thing for people to see the other side of me," Sebastian told 'Out There' prior to being hauled up into the car hanging from the ceiling in The Hard Rock Cafe for a segment. "I was a bit of a class clown at school, the teachers were always after me, but I've always been pretty relaxed and pretty stupid." The producers reckon when they hit the streets and talk to the masses, Guy is the first word on everyone's lips. "We've never had anyone co-host the show before," says producer Dave Forrester. "But for Guy we made the exception, we just get so much mail and feedback about him, people just can't get enough." ******************************************************************* Sebastian says his life has slowly returned to sanity, although Average Joe activities have become something of a rarity. Case in point; returning home last week to receive the keys to the city. Exciting enough, but the down-to-earth Sebastian was more blown away that he got to go fishing too. "I went fishing and caught a few salmon, I haven't done something like that for more than a year now! It was great!" Out There Sunday Telegraph

Pancake race on Mornings with Kerry Anne 24/2/04 K: Kerri-Anne J: Jamie, the other host of the show, I guess. G: Guy Everyone out in Channel 9 car park.
K: ...being Pancake Day we are going to have a pancake race. Let me introduce the racers. [Introduces others]... and Guy Sebastian is our surprise entrant. G: [grins into camera] Hello! K: Now Guy have you been practicing? G: Well I'm not gonna do one of those [points to man flipping pancake under leg] because this frypan is big, I might whack myself. [G flips pancake under leg, everyone cheers] G: Oww! [Rubs leg] K: Ok, are we ready? [G is holding back other kids, someone steals G's pancake] J: Ok, you have to run up here and back, flipping your pancake four times, ok? No biting, no scratching... K: What about singing? J: No. [G still pushing back kids, does Muhammad Ali style neck warm-up] J: Ok, on your marks, get set, GO! [All run, G pretends to tackle kids] [Schoolboy wins, G comes about 4th] [G pretends to eat pancake that fell on ground, then bends over and pretends to be really puffed from running] J: So who actually won? SCHOOLBOY: I did. [Crowd cheers, G throws pancake into crowd like a frisbee] J: Here's Guy's single... K: You wouldn't mind signing it would you Guy? G: Naaaaaaaah, I'll sign it for you but you have to eat that pancake [points to pancake on ground] K: So where did I come? J: Last. Here try flipping this one. [K and some other guy flip pancakes again, G dodges flying pancake and almost whacks kid in head with frypan] G: You're so lucky I didn't get you! [Laughs, hugs kid] K: Well Guy could you say that was the first time you'd done that? G: Well yeah, they said to let the kids win but I wouldn't have kept up with him anyway. This guy was cruisin'! [Everyone laughs] K: You're going to sing for us shortly... G: I am, I've gotta catch my breath first! K: I know, well we have a commercial break coming up [G smiles- gorgeously!] K: And now it’s starting to rain here in Sydney G: I know. It’s not Melbourne. K: We are hoping with all those lights and equipment there that its not going- G: -to electrocute me? [Laughs] J: Let's have a chat with some of the kids down there [K grabs G's hand and leads him across car park to crowd of kids, G still holding frypan in other hand - lol!] J: Ok, [talks to tiny little girl] are you a big fan of Guy Sebastian? GIRL: Yes J: Why? GIRL: [quietly] because he came first in Australian Idol G: Aww! [Huge grin] J: [asks next kid] Are you a big fan of Kerri-Anne Kennerley? 2nd GIRL: Umm... J: It’s that lady there K: She's thinking "who?" [G laughs] K: And the correct answer is... 2nd GIRL: [grins] Yes? K: Do you think I sing as well as Guy Sebastian? 2nd GIRL: Umm... [everyone laughs] K: I'm just kidding darling. G: Just read the autocue [points] J: Ok, let's ask this guy here. Who do you think is a better singer out of Guy Sebastian and Kerri-Anne Kennerley? BOY: Guy G: Aww! [Shakes BOY's hand] J: Do you think we should have a sing-off competition? [All kids cheer] G: [laughs] Bring it on! K: Ok, I have to say thanks to all the mums and teachers who helped to get this organised. [Notices mum taking photo of G] Here, give me that! G: Whose mum is that? [Grins] K: Here, pop in with Guy, I'll take the photo. G: [laughs] Hey, how are you going? [Puts arm around woman] K: Where's your child? WOMAN: She's here [daughter comes over, she's about 10] G: Ahh. Look at that. Fabulous! [Everyone smiles, K takes photo] G: Ok, that'll be $17.50! [Grins] WOMAN: [laughs] Thank you! [G laughs] K: Ok, so we've had our pancake race, and I didn't win but thanks to you all for coming in G: Yeah thanks kids! K: Now Guy I wanna have a chat with you about all the wonderful things that have happened. I mean, have you been loving and enjoying the experience- KID: [interrupts] Can you sing? Please? G: Ah, absolutely. It’s been a very busy time but it’s been a good time. I've just gotten back from Asia; I did the MTV awards over there, heading to NZ next week and stuff like that. But I mean, it’s good. How many people can say they are living their dreams? K: Well exactly, and you're such a dream for coming in and having such a good time with us G: Aww, that's ok! K: And we'll be back after the break with Guy Sebastian singing [G starts to use frypan (which he's still holding-lol!) as a light sabre] [K talks about a charity thing, G stands there looking adorable, grinning towards the end] K: And after the break we listen to who? CROWD: GUY SEBASTIAN!!! [G laughs, claps on frypan] [G surrounded by kids as camera moves away]
