Noll the homecoming idol
December 13, 2003
Australian Idol runner-up Shannon Noll returned to his hometown of Condobolin this week to shoot the film clip for his first single, What About Me.
Enlisting the help of about 200 locals, Noll shot the clip in and around the town over two days.
And from our exclusive look at the shoot, it seems they've stayed pretty true to the original version by Moving Pictures.
"It's mainly about the story of the song with the little boy and the pretty girl behind the counter, that sort of thing," Noll tells Confidential.
"It's about me coming back to Condo and heading back into town and getting received by everybody back in town," he says.
"I had an absolute ball, it was pretty hot but we got through it."
But somehow Noll's real homecoming after finishing behind Guy Sebastian in the popular talent quest was a lot more low-key. "I sort of snuck back in under the radar a little bit," he says.
"I went home for a week straight after the show. I just parked the car at the house and ducked down the pub to catch up with the boys and I don't think anybody really knew I was back.
"Through the week I just went down the street so I could catch up with all the kids who were all running the phones hot up there.
"I just sang a song (Green Day's Time of Your Life) down the street and did a bit of signing for all the kids who were there.
"It was really good."
Noll's single hits the radio airwaves on Monday and will go on sale on Australia Day as he and the rest of the Idol contestants head off on tour.
His album, which he's recording at the moment, is due for release in February.
