Hairy time for Idols
From Sydney Confidential
November 18, 2003
IDOL judge Marcia Hines has revealed what many of the show's fans - particularly those of finalist Shannon Noll - had suspected.
Shannon and Guy monkey around but who will be the winner?
Cosima "Nodules" De Vito was on her way out of the talent quest when she withdrew from the competition at the last minute.
Hines said Shannon was in front when the Perth songstress pulled the pin in dramatic circumstances.
"We've been told Shannon was in front," Hines told NXFM Newcastle. "I don't think they'd lie to him.
"Shannon's a very earthly person; he's not fluff or city fluff. He needed to know the nitty gritty about what had happened."
He wasn't the only one, but Channel Ten refused to reveal the votes, saying a true result would never be known because voting was stopped about 30 minutes early.
However, the secrecy only fuelled conspiracy theories that Cosima knew she wasn't going to win and orchestrated her own departure.
The news should at least silence those who thought Shannon was the Steven Bradbury of Australian Idol.

AUSTRALIAN Idol finalists Peter Ryan and Lauren Buckley must be feeling a little disappointed.
Both have been left off the list and will not tour the country with the other 10 finalists come February.
Ryan, who is known to most of us as Pete the pig farmer, was not wanted for the tour, according to a source.
It's all a little sad - he wanted to succeed and build a life for himself away from the pig farm and the tour would have been the perfect opportunity.
Buckley, on the other hand, is too young and had struggled to cope with the pressure of the competition.
