Idol's star treatment October 31, 2003 IDOL finalists Cosima, Guy and Shannon were given the star treatment by about 2000 screaming fans at Warringah Mall last night. Dicko makes a fan happy. As Dicko pointed out, there were more people there than in Shannon's home town of Condobolin. For Guy, it was just a relief to make it to the stage with his trademark hair intact. "I remember the last time we did this (a mall appearance), when I came out, they were all pulling my hair," he said. Some diehard fans waited up to eight hours to meet the stars and get an autograph. Some waved carefully crafted signs, but the most disturbing was probably the "Dicko You Sexy Beast" banner. "I'm just so humbled by the response, it's great," Cosima, who earlier had climbed the Harbour Bridge with her two rivals, said. Warringah Mall's security got a good workout and also foiled the plans of a prankster, who was stocked up with two cartons of eggs. With 2Day FM broadcasting live from the centre, locals popping in for a carton of milk didn't stand a chance. Meanwhile, non-Idol Paulini yesterday spent the day with the Fijian rugby squad at the Crowne Plaza, Coogee. The Daily Telegraph

Idol bridge climb October 31, 2003 IT was just another day for the (surprisingly) composed Cosima, Guy and Shannon. Straight after climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Australian Idol stars - along with judge Ian "Dicko" Dickson - got the star treatment when they were greeted by about 2000 screaming fans at Warringah Mall in north Sydney last night. As Dicko pointed out, there were more people there than in Shannon's home town of Condobolin in western NSW. For Guy, it was just a relief to make it to the stage with his trademark hair intact. "I remember the last time we did this (mall appearance) and when I came out, they were all pulling my hair," Guy said. Some diehard fans waited up to eight hours to meet the stars and get an autograph. Some waved carefully crafted signs, but the most disturbing was probably the "Dicko You Sexy Beast" sign. "There's nowhere else I'd rather be," Shannon said. "I'm just so humbled by the response, it's great," Cosima added. The final three Idol contestants will be cut to two finalists next Monday night. The final episode of the reality show on November 19 will feature live performances from the remaining two contestants at the Sydney Opera House before viewers are asked to vote for their favourite performer and Australia's first Idol.
