Idol comment hurts

THE male judges on Ten's hit show Australian Idol last night delivered a devastating verdict to a 21-year-old diva: you look fat in that!
Paulini was told she was too fat for her slinky dress.
In front of an estimated live audience of more than 2 million, judges Mark Holden and Ian "Dicko" Dickson told the girl with the flawless voice, Paulini Curuenavuli, she was too fat for the slinky gold dress she wore for her crucial finale.
And with those words the promotion of a healthy body image for young women was set back more than a few paces.
The studio audience gasped as Holden said the Fijian-born singer should kill whoever convinced her to wear the dress, and Dicko told her to choose her outfits better "or lose a few pounds".
For the public, it was a rare insight into the pressure the entertainment industry puts on young women to be thin. Model thin.
For here was a curvaceous young woman in a figure-hugging, sexy dress who looked - and more importantly sounded - great.
The sole female judge, singer Marcia Hines, told Holden - wearing a white jacket, several large rings and a flashy gold necklace - to take a good look at his own outfit.
