LATEST evictee and baby of the Australian Idol family, 17-year-old Lauren Buckley, is relieved to be out of the contest.
Lauren Buckley's relieved
The New South Wales schoolgirl's teary, shell-shocked exit on Monday night was painful to watch.
She was completely overwhelmed and could barely speak, let alone sing her farewell song, Lady Marmalade.
Fellow evictee Cle Wootton took over the mike and sang the song for her, joined by the remaining contestants.
"It's kind of a relief because it's a very stressful competition," Buckley told The Eye yesterday.
"I tried hard not to cry, but it just overtook me.
"I don't think anyone wants to sing after they've been kicked out. It's not a happy moment."
Wootton's eviction wasn't a shock, given her disappointing performance of Janet Jackson's That's the Way Love Goes, but it hadn't hampered her will to make it big.
Wootton said she'd stick around in Sydney in an attempt to forge a career in the music industry.
The 22-year-old from Perth has a four-year-old daughter, Taena, who will stay with her mum.
Wootton lashed out at judge Mark Holden for criticising the group's rehearsals on camera.
"I knew it was crap and I was already upset with myself, and he didn't have to come in and say that," she said.
Melbourne's Robert Mills remains Idol favourite with Centrebet, but close behind is Shannon Noll, who really impressed with his performance this week.
Paulini Curuenavuli has also moved up after her knockout performance, while rock chick Kelly Cavuoto is lagging in last place.
