Not the Idol choice September 24, 2003 AND then there were 10. The countdown to announcing the winner of Australian Idol officially began on Monday night when the 12 finalists were culled to 10. Cut were NSW pig farmer Peter Ryan, 27, and Queenslander Matt Chadwick, 21. With a day to come to terms with their loss, both were a bit upset and regretting their final song choices. "I could've done a different song, it looks as if the guys that did the ballads went out," said Ryan. Chadwick also felt the same. "I would've chosen another song, I had to work with what we had." Despite being overcome with emotion after finding out they were eliminated, both put on a brave face and sang for the Australian Idol audience one last time. "We were all dreading it but the emotion and the adrenalin kicked in," Ryan said. Chadwick said "considering I get really bad nerves, I was quite calm and relaxed, I feel I performed better on Monday night than I did on Sunday". Both are now planning on pursuing their singing careers. dailytelegraph.news.com.au/story.jsp?sectionid=1266&storyid=234436

Idols to do a Cazaly September 24, 2003 WHAT a surprise. Come Saturday we'll be hearing Up There Cazaly and One Day in September, the two songs that our own home-grown Mike Brady is perhaps best known for. But the performers . . . that was the question. Well, since they broke the news a couple of weeks ago that the 10 finalists from Australian Idol will be performing live at the G . . . and since that's a Channel 10 show . . . and since Ten has the finals series . . . well, no contest, really. The Idol finalists will be belting out the two best-known footy songs with a few twists and turns, we bet, but Mike Brady will probably still recognise them.
