Network Ten confirms airtime of Idol premiere

Australian Idol will premiere at 7:30pm on July 27. According to the official site's countdown clock, network programmers have decided to broadcast the first episode of the anticipated series at 7:30pm rather than the highly competitive 6:30pm timeslot, when the immensely popular Channel Nine reality renovation program 'The Block' airs. Meanwhile, rival network Channel Seven has decided to premiere the new series of 'The Mole' at 6:30pm, saturating Sunday nights with locally produced reality programs across all commercial networks in Australia.
The 7:30pm slot, recently vacated due to the conclusion of Big Brother 3 live evictions, would place Australian Idol up against Nine's '60 Minutes' and Seven's new $2million game show 'Deal or No Deal'.
