I agree with Jess that it's amazing he's going to Africa with World Vision.
As far as the plans to fund a support clinic, I also agree that Guy has his heart in the right place & he just wants to help.
However given Guy's view on the abortion and the view of his Church I think I can quite reasonably make some assumptions on how such a support clinic would be run and what it's intent would be.
I don't see my voicing my opinions on this as nit picking. As a woman, this is an important issue to me - one that I feel entitled to have an opinion on, one that I believe I know a fair bit about and one that affects me whole lot more than it affects Gary Pinto & Guy Sebastian.

Yeah, I just talked to Jess and she was just referring to the personal attacks (see post to Elle), SoC. She agrees that people being able to state their views is a good thing. I think we all take offense to the personal attacks.
And, I just returned from church. Fancy that (as Jess says) Mish and I went to Hillsong together. Not my church...I usually go out to Penrith. But I was meant to go to Hillsong tonight. The Pastor spoke about men and their responsibility to their children. He encouraged them to step up to the plate. It was good to hear this coming from a Pastor. And, I think, some of what has been said here. Men have a responsibility in this as well...and counseling for them wouldn't be such a bad thing. You can NEVER learn too much (or know too much) when it comes to children.
I do agree with Lurker Unbelievable though, when he/she said that we have to work and pray for the ones that are open to being responsible. But, yeah, many are already responsible. Like Gary and Guy. And that is probably why they are trying to be involved. it is an issue for ALL of us to tackle.
GOD BLESS THEM...AND HEAPS.
Peace,
Reg

I have just squeaked in some time to read this whole thread and feel my view has already been expressed very eloquently by someone else.
From the glimpse I have had of Guy and in particular Gary, I can't think of 2 nicer more sensitive blokes to handle such a delicate issue. I realise they won't be invoved personally but I can't see them endorsing anything but the best.
As for the "Church" involvement... well that "Church" has helped form Guy and all his character and values that we admire so much. Honesty their wisdom beyond their years astonishes me sometimes. I think we need to trust Guy and Gary to do the best thing here.

I lived around the corner from a Family Planning clinic in East Melbourne....no... not an abortion clinic... but a clinic which allowed women and their partners to choose what to do with their own lives.
Every morning on my way to buy the paper I walked past this clinic and watched as the women and men going into the clinic were mercilessly harrassed by anti-abortionists waving placards at them pasted with words of utter venom accusing them of evil deeds.
I watched horrified one morning when a man who believed HE had the right to choose for others (and refused ever to be named even at his own trial) went into that clinic and shot dead the security guard and injured the receptionist. He destroyed the lives of many families that day!
Getting invloved in this issue is a minefield...I hope you know what you're getting yourselves into Guy and Gary...cos...however good your intentions are...you can't control the messianic nutters of this world.
Please never let us become a country where the moral opinions of one group abrogate and endanger the lives of another.

Where does a person go for help to get over an abortion they can't talk to anyone about?
