The first half sticks to the formula, starting with a group blast through the Easybeats' Good Times before each Idol gets a solo opportunity to sing a personal defining moment from the series. The best moments, as on the show, come from faultless song choice (Emelia Rusciano with Alicia Keys's If I Ain't Got You), classy vocal performances (step forward Hayley Jensen), confident, natural stage presence (Courtney Murphy) and all of the above - Ricki-Lee "I was robbed" Coulter. But it's the second half, and some winning, surprising collaborations, that really gives you your money's worth. There's a scorching, um, three-way between Coulter, Rusciano and Amali Ward doing Destiny's Child's Bootylicious (fans of the show will know who the "Beyonce" is of this trio); Blues Brothers-style shenanigans with Marty Worrall, Daniel Belle and Murphy; and a Latin-flavoured duet between Belle and Chanel Cole that plays cheekily on their rumoured romance, even if it doesn't smoulder as much as they might think.
Younger fans will swear the show peaks with the overblown performances of diminutive runner-up/licence-to-scream Anthony Callea's The Prayer or Casey Donovan's competition-winning finale of Listen with Your Heart. Far more convincing, to these ears, is the obscenely funky take on Stevie Wonder's Superstition, complete with sensational keyboards from Murphy and yet another conspicuously stellar turn from Coulter.

Heard some amazing reports from people who have been to the Melb concert - pics you name it - one guy wasn't that keen but was blown away by how good everyone performed, standouts were Rickilee and Marty
