There has been a lot of talk about the somalian singer Liben Aden. He performed a Craig David song at the audition as well as a native Somalian song. He progressed to the Top 100 but missed out during the following Top 40 round. What do you think? Should liban receive a wildcard and join the Top 10? Or is he overrated?
I received this from Daniel from the feedback form-
I did audition, so did my little bro, we both got the pink slip, but never made it to sydney.... we from Melbourne, I was the guy with the afro, my bro was the one with the "shock pen", but why I have written, is because of a good friend of mine, Liban, I think under the circumstances, he should of been given a "FAIR" go, we had dicko talking about Australia being a great country, blah blah.... well if it is such a great country, why dont you let Australia vote? vote whether or not he should be able to still enter the top 40, you wanted "ratings", this will blow, right off its hinges!!!!!
Tell us what you think by replying to this thread.

no way, he blew his chance! If he cant learn a song in a day then he shouldnt be there. He shouldnt be given special treatment coz its hard for him with english, there are other ppl who can catch onto songs easier than him, so who cares. His voice isnt that great anyway. I wish everyone would just get over it. But due to the alarming rate of losers getting thru to the finals, it will come no surprise if gets in with the wildcard round. I just hope he doesnt. ;D

he may of blew his chances, but ur one voice....this guy might not have what it takes in ur eyes, but who are u? u might be able to type, probably even speak, but u put urself in his shoes, if u came to a country where freedom is a blessing rather than a miracle, wouldnt u be wanting to "fit in???" i think he shouldnt get any special treatment neither, but under the circumstances, the song that the girls sang, everyone knew that song, it was even a hit song in that movie with julia roberts. Im pretty sure if I gave the song "samoa tulai" for people to learn, u'd be like"....what the hell???" The point is, if everyone else got that shot to redeem themselves, why shouldnt he? I see him now and then, we talked about some of the issues regarding chances, he feels embarrassed rather angry at the time he spent in sydney... if he was given that second chance, what makes u think that he wouldnt excel in such an offer? how do you know he wouldnt "progress" in this competition if given the oppurtunity? well it brings me back to my last comment, "a fair go" is all he'll need to make or break himself, if he doesnt, well, at least he'll know in the future, he was given that chance, whether he made it or not, but that door was opened..... but put all of this aside, did I not say that this will bring ratings???? controversy is what society thrive on, and this is a perfect example.

I think Liban's performance last night justified why he didn't make it to the top 40. Liban's voice touched everyone when he sang in Somalian, and no-one can dispute that he probably sang better than all of the contestants back then, but last night, he didn't cut it. I felt sorry for him! It was hard to understand what he was singing, and because he was so unsure of the words, it affected his notes. The judges should not have brought him back!

i think liban touched most of australia whe he sang in somalian, and i think the sense of innocence and sweetness helped him win the hearts of many. i do understand how hard it would have been for him, and i commend him for trying, he does have a beautiful voice, but he just couldnt cut it. if he couldnt handle it at this level, how is he going to handle it if he makes it? i think liban could go far, very far, but its just that its not the right competition for him. simple.

Liban's Somalian song really touched my heart. He sang really good. I agreed with Dicko's some points that he chose a wrong song to sing but, this is commerical business. Even if he is an AI, business won't promote his country songs. He really need to sing pop songs, but pop songs are not suitable for him.
I think Liban has a good future. But AI is not on his road. Wish him all the best!
If musical company changed their minds to give him a chance to promote his country song's single. I think i will buy it!

He wasn't good enough full stop.
He well and truly got a fair go, in fact he copped a fairer go than half of the other carrrnts...how many others were given the opportunity to murder 2 songs in the first auditions?
Seriously.
A lot of you are confusing talent with pity.
