FANTASIA: I liked her at the beginning but she's starting to lose her appeal with me. Her voice didn't suit the song, I couldn't stand listening to a whole album of her, and there's something about her personality that's just a little... off. I can't place it, but I'm over it.
JOHN-PETER: Never really understood his appeal. He's the all-American boy - so I guess he's to the USA what Shannon was to us. His head voice notes were painful tonight, and the performance in general wasn't great.
CAMILLE: I've always loved the tone of her voice and still do - the huskiness and rawness is beautiful - but she's overstayed her welcome, in my opinion. She's been pretty weak since the finals started. She doesn't look comfortable on-stage and her performances always seem somewhat awkward.
JOHN: I have a soft spot for this guy, but that was horrible. Just horrible. I felt terrible for even thinking it, because he took such a huge risk and was obviously well outside of his comfort zone, so like Paula, I applaud him for that much, but he butchered the song. Pitch was everywhere, no strength in his voice.
JASMINE: I didn't think her voice had enough range to pull off this song, but it didn't turn out to be nearly as bad as I'd anticipated. She was a little flat in some areas, but generally, well-executed. I like the clearness and the purity in her voice.
GEORGE: This man is on a role! He's consistent - consistently great, that is - every single week, and this week was certainly no exception. He's fun, he's bubbly, his pitch was perfect and like Simon said, he's unique. He brings a little something extra to the competition that no one else can. I like him a hell of a lot.
LA TOYA: I can acknowledge that this girl has quite the voice on her and doesn't really do much wrong at all, but for some reason, I've never taken quite the liking to her that others seem to have. She lacks that X-factor to me. Having said that, she was among the top three tonight, without a doubt. She was pretty much flawless.
DIANA: In my opinion, she's one of the best singers and performers in the competition. Her control, her pitch, it's all pretty much perfect. And she's so, so confident and comfortable on-stage, which is an amazing achievement for a 16-year-old. Tonight was weaker - still great, but weaker by her standards - but we know that's because she was sick. Her beauty pageant personality doesn't do much for me, but as a singer and as a performer, she's definitely right up there.
JENNIFER: My favourite! This is my girl right here. What can I say that her performance didn't already. She rocked the house. I love the power and control in her voice. She's the only one who truly sent shivers up my spine, and that gets bonus points alone. I'd love to see her win. She has a wonderful, warm personality and the talent to match.
RESULTS: Camille was rightfully out. Her time was up, in my opinion. I don't think that either Jasmine or Diana deserved to be in the bottom three based on their performances - especially not Diana, if we're talking about over the entire competition - their places should've been filled by Jon Peter and John respectively, but we all know that American Idol is just as much as a popularity contest as anything else, so... *shrug*.
Looking forward to next week!
