Are u sure? Cos i bought TV Week and pg.12 says: Randy JacksonBrother to Michael and a one-time member of the Jackson 5, Randy is also a Grammy-winning producer. He has worked with singers such as Madonna, Destiny's Child and Mariah Carey. Randy is less harsh on the singers than Simon. "You can tell people off, but you odn't always have to be rude to them," he says. LOL. Australia seems like another planet right now. Someone in the media especially should know the Jacksons or do research before printing something like that and not misinform people. The Randy on American Idol is not related to Micheal Jackson. American Idol Randy Jackson is a producer who has worked with people like Mariah Carey. This is the info they have on him on Idol site: RANDY JACKSON Randy Jackson, a Grammy Award winning producer, is a twenty-year music industry veteran. For eight years, he was the V.P. of A&R at Columbia Records followed by four years as Senior V.P. of A&R at MCA Records. Randy has recorded, toured and performed with the likes of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, *NSYNC, Madonna, Elton John, Destiny's Child and many more. Randy has worked on over one thousand gold and multi-platinum albums. His contributions have helped to sell over 200 million albums worldwide. ================= Here are links to Micheal's brother Randy Jackson. They are old pictures from the 80's. He kind of look like Janet too. www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDMISS70401172300290346&sql=Bbvez9757krdtHere is Randy with the other Jackson brothers too. He's in white and second from the left - next to the one yellow stripes. www.valsadie.com/jksons1.jpg

i reckon its so cool that tens showing american idol hehehe its so entertaining and it nicely fills up tv watching time until aust idol starts again! cant wait! HAHAHAHA i LOVE simon he's just so funny... the only thing he's said that has annoyed me so far was in world idol when he told the canadian just to shut up about saying anything remotely bad about kelly clarkson coz kellys already sold so many records blah blah blah..... that was irritating but hes cool haha

Simon Cowell gets more annoying each week. Sometimes he says stuff that is just so right but then he adds some flippant comment(ratings, ratings) and I want to bop him one.

I read at one time that Randy was Michael's brother. I didn't hear anything about that for a while, and was wondering why, but then I found out he wasn't related. He certainly doesn't act much like Michael.

I don't think Simon is that harsh. On World Idol he definately seemed to be, but watching American Idol, I don't think he's living up to his reputation! Dicko is still the king!

I don't think he is harsh just stupid. He could take on Mark Holden for dumb comments. Something about a girl in a rodeo this week and a comment to Paula about she used to be nice. What is all that about,he should stick to constructive critiscm and leave off the catty comments. Is he trying to live up to some overblown image?

he should stick to constructive critiscm and leave off the catty comments. Simon very rarely gives constructive criticism...i remember one of the top 32 asked him for some after he said she was terrible and he said he can't do it, he's only good at spotting what's wrong with a performance...that makes him a pretty crap judge then!! I found this article if anyone wants to read: extratv.warnerbros.com/dailynews/extra/0304/03_03a.html'Extra' talked to 'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest Wednesday morning at his Los Angeles radio show, where he said shame on Simon after his rough words to contestants on Tuesday's show. "I get frustrated watching Cowell when I host the show because he gives the singers a bit of false hope, then tells them they’re terrible," Seacrest said. "The truth is you can't make everybody a superstar," Seacrest admitted. "But I believe he could give a little more direction when he gives the kids feedback." Exactly.

I know he bags a lot of people in a harsh way, but putting that aside, I actually agree with most of what he says. There are far too many singers who shout/sing and pick jazzy flashy songs that have no tune. They do absolutely nothing for me. Very few have made much of an impact on me yet. I wonder why with all those people and all that talent?
