I am so glad that god found the time to be with guy when he won AI. Maybe he should reorganise his schedule to spend a little time with the starving, suffering and murdered children of the world, or even drop in on Iraq to bless them....oh I forgot he is on our side isn't he.

Thanks for the offer but please leave me out of it. The guy (or girl) has a hell of a lot to answer for and I would rather not be associated.

I'm soooooooo with you blessed
have always found it funny that when things suck it's because "god gave us free will" but when things are good it's all down to the deity. Is this really the 21st century???
BTW presumably Paulini and Rebekah (both beleivers) were also praying they'd win - does God hate them??

why does everyone suddenly believe in God only when bad things happen? Like, when you're in a life or death situation a looooooot of people call out "help me God" or whatever, but no-one ever acknowledges him in the good times.
While it is hard for us to understand why God allows suffering and stuff, you've gotta remember that it was not the way he designed the world. He made it perfect, he gave us free will to do whatever we like (which is a good thing, otherwise we'd just be mindless creatures, programmed to be God's robots). It was US who wrecked it. Actually, to be more specific, it was Adam (as in the first person in the bible) who wrecked it. While it is easy to condemn adam i think that most of us would have done the deed ourselves, and we all continue to sin everyday anyway.
And obviously God can't make all three of the "christian" contestants (Guy, Paulini and Rebecca) win, but it was His will for Guy to win. He must have had his reasons for this.....and the point i always come back to is: If we could understand God, he wouldn't be much of a God. He would be limited to our finite understandings instead of being an almighty supreme being.
Ok well maybe this is not the best place to post all this stuff but since the topic was started i feel i should speak up for other christians. Yes i got on my soapbox and had a preach but i make no apology. What does everyone else think?

Oh no! Not religion! No offence but I believe that religion is the very reason why there are so many problems in the world. Which is really ironic, 'Thou shalt not kill'? 'Thou shalt not steal'? Ok so it's not a 'war of religions' (that looks weird together, war and religion), but it's the backbone to the problems. "Allah this..." "God this..." "You'll become a martyr in heaven..." "You'll burn in hell..." If only everyone could learn to just respect each other's own traditions and different beliefs [/img] I'm sorry, it's just it's so close to Christmas and I get all sentimental and save-the-worldy...

i agree with you in some ways, AfroDitee, in that the conflict between religions is one of the major causes of trouble in this world.
I agree that it's important to respect other people's religions and not put them down or whatever, or discriminate against them. But at the same time, they can't ALL be the truth. Truth by its very definition means that only ONE of these religions can be right/true. Not all of the religions can be true at the same time, cos they all contradict each other. That is why it's important for us all individually to seek out the truth for ourselves (and not just go by what ppl tell us).
And thanks everyone for staying so civil, and for discussing this respectfully. I hope i haven't offended anyone, but encouraged you to think about your own beliefs and why you believe them.

I agree. All this contradiction in world religions, blah! it's just ugly!
I believe what really matters (and only matters) is between the PERSON and GOD, so religion isn't legit with me. I believe in God so with me it's about relationship, not religion.

i agree with real m.
Our relationship with God is a friendship, not a legalistic religion. It's not about what we have to do for God, it's about what God has done for us. Christianity isn't a big list of do's and don'ts, it's an awesome journey and it's an awesome life.
Which is reflected in Guy, he's so joyful and passionate about life, and he's......just awesome.

The topic of religion is such a sticky one,... there is no way that we would all fully agree. You're right blessed, God was with Guy the night he won. But he was also with Shannon and all of us. But God did not make Guy win... WE did that by picking up our phones. God is one thing, and Religion is another... People die in the name of Religion, do you think that God asks that of us? Religion is man made, and as we are only human, all that we do is flawed. Therefore so is Religion. Its kinda inevitable! Killing in the name of God is just a sick excuse for something that is inexcusable! Killing in the name of Religion is just a stupid justification for things that can never be justified.
