When I heard him sing Over the Rainbow.
I was worried he wouldn't even make it into the top 12 since at first it seemed like the audience want the boy band kinda look.

Ive admired him from the start, but i fell for him when he sang that Frank Sinatra song...'the way you look tonight'....and the more and more we find out about him it makes me admire him even more...
Plus the fact that he reminds me of my boy! except the whole christian thing...wish my boy was like that..

I've got to say I liked him a lot all the way back from the auditions although I liked others from the start as well. After watching the encore show with me tonight, my partner commented on Guy's vocal range saying "his high register and low register are both the same". I was about to bop him until he continued by saying that Guy is naturally gifted in both :>
I can't remember at what precise time I figured Guy was a viable bet for the title because all of his performances have been memorable. I thought his version of When Doves Cry and that of When I Get You Alone kicked some serious ass. Then again, so did Climb Every Mountain, Wonderful World, You're The Voice... erm, I can't find one I didn't like.
I think he has proven hands down that he is consistantly brilliant, even with flu.

I think I started to take notice of Guy early on in the competition auditions. His fro was a bit shorter then. I wasn't even watching the show, but stopped what I was doing to focus on the owner of this beautiful voice I was hearing on TV. He has a Stevie Woner quality about his voice. I have followed him ever since. He has never disappointed me and I always look forward to being thoroughly entertained by Guy.

I'm so often quoting, but just HAD to quote this piece. What you have written here, Syrup is exactly what i have witnessed and feel also. You have a way with words, my love!

I didn't really start getting into Aust Idol til the Final 12, and even then I wasn't paying all that much attention to the show... But I think I first started to admire Guy when he sang "Hit The Road Jack" on the Big Band night, that was excellent... I heard his rendition of "When Doves Cry" as well, which I enjoyed a lot... I wish I'd gotten into it earlier on, though, so I could have heard him sing in the beginning...

He stood out to me in the top 100. I love difference and Guy makes a difference. When he sang CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN he captured the hearts of many including his. It shows that he is not only singing for the comp, fans and family he is also singing for himself. Guy is UNIQUE TALENT. He and Paulini were my top favourites from the start along with Bec and Levi. Shannon is good nationally but on the international level Guy takes the cake..GO GUY.....even if he doesnt win he'll prolly be more famous....

When Doves Cry.
I can remember that turning point. I felt that Guy was overrated earlier on. What A Wonderful World didn't do much for me. When Dicko turned the heat on him for not "respecting the melody", I was in tacit agreement. My fav then was Bek.
Then came the epiphany. When Doves Cry. I was stunned by Guy's feeling for the song which is so intensely personal that I didn't expect anyone but Prince to be able to handle it well. At that point, Cosima was looking shaky( or at least inconsistent) and only Paulini and Guy continued to shine.
The song that sealed it for me is the out-of-competition one. There was performance plus. Guy never looked back since, everything he touched was gold, the Big Band numbers, the 60s stuff. The only minor disappointment was Hello.
