Whose version was better? they were pretty much the same but i thought guy's was better even tho he sng with the flu! Shannon at times had a hard time with the lower notes in the song, u could tell her was struggling with that bit. Guy was a bit shaky at first cause of the flu but as the song went on he got much better. All i can say was that Guy's version was beautiful. Shannon was singing with all he got and was emotional cause he needed to do better than Guy. but as to whether he was better, IMHO no. GO GUY you rock!

I didn't like the song either, actually. I preferred Guy's rendition of it over Shannon's, though...

I agree the song is pretty run of the mill, but they both did the best they could with it. Guys versionwas better but it was more his style of song. Shannon couldn't get those high clarity notes cos he has that rough husky rock voice. Thats the trouble with Guy winning this thing. We will get over produced pap rather than something new and different!

Yeah, a rock voice trying to do an R&B-type song...you'd think they would've made a song that would have suited any type of voice a little better...**shrugs**
I'm still not sure about the song too...perhaps it'll grow on me.

yeh the song didn't do anything for me. sort of sounded like something left over from the young talent time collection. they both did really well considering. seemed like shannon had more of a connection to it - maybe something to do with missing his Dad? I dunno, I shouldn't make assumptions like that but he did look up at the end & blow a kiss heavenward or something. Guy seemed to be forcing emotion through it but I think probably coz he's sick. they did well for such a shit house song full marks to both

I can't believe the comments on this topic. Shannon's performance of Angels brought me here was far superior. I think it is very admirable that the Guy fans are sticking by him but will you buy his albums even if they get boring and repetative (cos I guarentee that will happen). Take your blinkers off , watch the repeat on Thursdays show and really listen to Shannon. He nailed every song he sang. Also have a look at the judges reactions. Dicko was over the moon on Shannons performance of the new single. He got a standing ovation. Last night proved that Shannon can sing everything and guy is very linmited to his style that will date very quickly.

Leelo is completly right. Guy's songs last night, did nothing for me. Fancy choosing crazy in love... hell, it wasn't even that gooda song when beoncye did it... let alone guy... and his redition of Angels... was nothing short of singing a song with some vocal acrobats. he didn't perform the song in the slightest. GUy's Jackson5 song was slightly above average. To be honest, in my opinion, guy was falling slightly into Cosima's hole, by singing different songs, but making them sound the same..
Shannon performed please forgive me.. averagly... i still prefer Bryan Adam's version, however, he really put his foot down and stamped on guy when he performed working class man. My God. he did that so damn well, and his rendition of Angels bought me here, was so heart felt, it bought shivers down my spine, and a lump in my throat. Shannon took that song, performed it, and made it his own.
The only song i've really seen guy do that to, was Climn Every Mountain, which he nailed.
I have nothing, absolutley nothing against guy, he is a fantastic artist, and he will be a star at everything that he will do, however, in this situatiuon, Shannon has outshone him, and proved that he is the epitome of and aussie bloke.
When i have kids, i'd be more than happy for them to grow up idolising Shannon.

I thought Guy's version was much more meaningful and lifting. It came from the heart. Shannon didn't really sing it with passion.

did Working Class Man so damn well? It was SHOCKINGLY out of tune and only salvaged it towards the end with the hyped up wailing. Pull out the bias plugs however you might praise Guy, and LISTEN to Working Class Man again if you have it recorded. Shannon worked hard and sang his guts out. He seems like a good bloke too. He just DOESN'T come close to Guy in the singing dept. The acrobatics as you put them are something that Shannon even attempted last night in Angels brought me here... and in the bryan adams song - good on him for trying, but he had nothing on Guy. And Guy was sick with flu too.
They will both get the deal, they will both hit the market they will both have a following. One will truly prevail however based on sheer talent and musical creativity - GUY. Time will be the witness.

I'm a guy fan - but I reckon Shan did outclass guy last night (won't be enough to change my opinion on who I think should win though. Shan performed working class man very well and I was expecting him to fall on his butt singing the angels song but I was suprised to see that he sold it much better than guy- he has come along way since that dreadful performance of living on a prayer!

I'm a GUY fan but you could really tell he had the 'flu last night AND that shows you want a great talent he is 'cause he sounded fantastic and normally we wouldn't notice. Marcia was right. He needs rest. I liked Shannons version of Angels, thinking of his Dad maybe? But the song sucks.
