A nervous Matt Chadwick and 'rock chick' Kelly Cavuoto were the two finalists from Group 2 named to progress to the Top 10. Rebecca Tapia unfortunately missed out with only a few hundred votes separating the top three contestants on the night. Australian Idol viewers voted for Kelly's rendition of "Bring Me To Life" and Matt's performance of "Truly".
What do you think?
Did Matt and Kelly deserve to go through?

This is what blurrysarah had to say in the Yahoo group-
I had a sick feeling in my stomach this week, as soon as I saw
another "blondie" boy (a mediocre performing one at that). I cannot
stand people who vote with their hormones, get a freaking clue.
Lorena impressed me the most last week, her performance was amazing
whether you had heard the song or not. Rebecca impressed me the most
this week, I never really took notice of her until last night, but
when I heard her voice I thought for certain she deserved to go on.
She actually hit that uber-note perfectly, I could have sworn it was
Mariah.
I cannot believe Kelly got in under that pathetic "rock chick"
guise. Excuse me while I regurgitate violently. She was alright in
the Top 40 auditions, but after last night I thought it was pretty
bloody clear her voice is nowhere near 90% of the other Top 40
performers. And people like Liban were knocked back to make room for
her?

I dont understand why your saying all
these horrible things about the people in Australian Idol ..
Personally, i think everyone thats in the show are amazing singers
and they all have talent!! And i think they are all giving it their
best shot, i mean in life you only get one shot at anything, and you
should always follow your dreams , and this is what these people are
doing!! Please honestly give them a break! Just think of all the
hard work , and courage they are putting into trying to be the next
Australian Idol!

To all of the overlooked talented idols out there ie.. Rebecca,
Cosima, Hailey, Shannon, Eli,Veronica. Don't look back on idol, pack
your bags and head for the US or Uk. You all definetly have a huge
future but sadly this country is too fucked to see whats right in
front of their eyes... Heck, Id even try out for the next idol in uk
or US. It would be great to see one of you get right through over
there and then Australia might realise how many talented people here
end up as pig farmers etc.

I hate tonight's choice, Kelly CAN'T sing and Matt looked like he's
going to faint on stage. FUCK! I thought I like the show, but I
don't know. Looks like whoever has a blonde haired boy band look and
a girl who can't sing but is wearing fucking half-knee pants are
going to get through. Its StUpId and it makes Australia look stupid,
I voted 4 times for Bec and Axle, goddamit, 8 rings for two person
isn't enough?? What's up man... I hope kelly and matt don't win in
the end, they SUCK --- I wouldn't buy their records for crap.

I am one of those angry people. I'm sure that everyone who is in
the top 40 are all talented. But with VARYING degrees of talent.
For example, compare Cosima to Kelly or Matt. She has a beautiful
natural voice. Just wonderful IMO. Her song choice was horrible
but she was confident in her performance as well. Kelly OTOH had to
learn how the breathe properly which is basic singing skills plus
she was nasal. Also Matt can sing and is a lovely person but the
poor guy was so nervous. How is he going to do it in front of a
live audience when he is so nervous now?
I applaud everyone who gets up and gives it ago esp. Matt because
the poor guy is so self-conscious. However, Matt, Kelly and Daniel
are vocally inferior to some of the contestants that did not get
through. |

Well this is my first post but I have been reading all the posts since I joined
this group last week. I voted for Cosima and Rebecca last night and I am so
disappointed one of them didn't get through.
Kelly killed "Bring me to life" which is one of my favourite songs and I just
can't believe she got through. I am worried that none of the outstanding
talent is going to make it in to the top ten and that would be such a shame.
Yes the guys that have got through can sing really well, but none of the them
stand out to me. I just hope people are voting for talent and not for stupid
reasons such as looks.

I was so pissed off when I heard Kelly & Mat got through. What kind of idiots are voting out there?! I just hope real talent gets recognised out there, and Dicko manages to sign on at least Lorena, Rebecca and Cosima - those girls are just fantastic. They have the voices, the presence, the charm... the whole package. And they are being left behind. Unbelievable. Another thing I noticed - all the finalists that are getting through to the final top 10 are of white Australians. I bet that not one of the ten finalists is going to be of 'mixed' background, no matter how talanted they are... Goes to show how 'progressive' we are as a nation. And I'm definitely not watching Australian Idol again. Too disappointed with the outcomes.

I went from FURIOUSto DELIGHTED in a matter of minutes. I was SO angry Matt got in, and with the most votes?! WTF if happening! well tenn girls *vomits*, than it was rebecca and kelly, that musta been the longest ad break ever, i thought rebecca would get thru and then this whole show would be screwed, Kelly is my favourite and i was desprettely praying she was in. TO PREDICTABLE! But then to me pleasure KELLY got thru! THANK GOD, australias 1st RIGHT choice. GET OVER THE HOT GUYS AND GET ON THE GOOD VOICES, australian voters need a slap in the face and need to get there acts and telefones together! GO KELLY!~~  |

Dear Australians,
It's Shaun again, one of the Top 55 contestants from the show. I
would just like to say that at the moment I'm very embarrassed with
the progress of the show. With all due respect and love to Peter,
Matt, Daniel and Kelly.... I was there in the audition room and I
KNOW that we have SOOOOO much more to offer!!!
Being there throughout the top 40 selection process and being one of
the few people who has seen both of the American Idol series, I was
so confident that Australia could finally put up a "copy" show which
could stand our own ground!! Not only that, I felt that if we had
picked the right top10 based on their ability to sing and perform,
that we would have had an even BETTER show than our American and
definitely English counterparts!! We have better singers... or
should I say HAD now...
How could U let Cosima go.... All the judges picked her!!! They
said "She had the MOST lovely voice and the BEST voice this show has
to offer". And they are 100% right!!!! Even Matt would agree with
me. Did U see the shock on his face??? He seems relieved to finish
singing as he said the nite b4. Singing should be a passion and
something U would want to do 24/7!!! That's an true artist!! That
WAS Cosima...
On a personal level, she is genuine girl, someone who is true and
righteous... she is beautiful on the inside as she is on the
outside. She touches U with her music!!! The music industry are
MORONS!!! Because of MTV, everyone SEES music... Music is something
to be felt... heard... experienced... manifested!! Cosima does
that!!! Just listen to her voice and genuinely tell me U never felt
anything that night...
Despite the fact that the BEST singer of the competition is coming
home... MY HEART WILL GO ON!!!
Cos, U did us proud... Thank U for the experience.

p.s All I can say is that I'm glad that Australia did not have it's
say from the start of the show or we may have seen "The Rocking
Morrocan, Mariah Scary, The Green Dragon, Elvis lives again and the
Eye of the Tiger in the Top 40!!

I have to agree at a 110% with others out there, with two Brilliant Ladies!. Lorena Alegria impressed me with her style and uniqueness! She did WOW! me in her performance and became a 1st choice in the first round!. Lorena has shown Australia what is Rythm & Blues with Soul and her charisma. Rebecca Tapia became an ultimate favorite after seen her performance with such confidence. Incredible voice! Sensual and discover her sensations as a real as it could be! Rebecca illuminated the stage as a real *SuperStar* with her Charms & made it feel real!! My pick for the top 10.
Both Ladies do have the power to move Souls and Mountains, putting this Continent on the map of real entertainment, real talent and gifted individuals that Australia has to offer. Hoping AI & the public viewers consider what a big difference this can make.
Both Ladies do have the *AUSTRALIAN IDOL MATERIAL*

Although I congratulate all contestants, you guys doing a fantastic job!!.
