Now i have seen the show I realise what a dumb idea it was and why some of the idols did not want to be involved. Firstly I thought there would be more of a leadup showing the idols together having fun and communicating(maybe there wasn't any) Secondly I think the judges needed to realise they were not the stars and why they were there was to give positive critique(but did love the polish judge, a bit of entertainment at least) Thirdly the specail effects were totally tacky and annoying, especially i Wills light my fire song. Lastly the thing that was great about Aus idol was that we got to know the contestants over a long period of time. We emphasised with them but we had strong opinions on them. We saw them grow and develop from their first auditions to their winning moments. Seeing them show off their talents in the different genre's helped us to see who was the best of the bunch. I think we cannot choose a world idol based on one performance. And there was heart lacking in the show there was no build up no excitement and no fun. I'm a bit dissapointed really I thought it would be much better. What do you all think? Do you think they will do it again?

I agree with everything you said. I decided that I am not voting and it's not because I can't vote for Guy. Like you said, it is difficult to base your decision on one performance. I've watched many peformances by Guy and Kelly. Guy's performance definatly didn't show his full potential and neither did Kelly's. I'm a bit afraid for Guy now because even though his voice sounded great, I think that many people who haven't seen Guy perform before may not have liked his arrangement of the song and that would have altered their perception, esp if they are used to the original version. Anyway...there is not much we can do now except support Guy the best we can and i'm sure he will be grateful for that

i agree with you both. the show was a big let down for me after looking so forward to it for so long. it seemed very rehursed and very edited espeacially since we are used to live idol. but to change the subject just a little wasnt the jerman guy hopless i felt very embarressed for him

I nearly thought you meant that as a question! LMAO.
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
With our own respective Idol shows, you got to see them grow and you saw snippits of their pesonality. You can't base it on 1 performance (and at that it was not even a full song) and some heavy editing on what the 'judges' say.
I'm not voting as I don't feel anything for any of the Idols ('cept Guy of course) and I would not waste 55c to vote for someone who didn't really stand out at all.

I was just thinking that ite show almost seems to be an embarrassment to them now. I was watching the u.k pop idol finals online and they referred to it in an interview with the judges Pete Waterman and Simon Cowell and made a bit of a joke about it. It wasn't much but it was there. The popidol final was on the 20th or 21st and they had recorded the world idol on 16th. I think they expected a better class of contestants. Some of them were a bit strange though.

As much as i dont like to say but i havent always been a huge Cosima fan! But every week i just started liking her more and more and when she came to the Aussie Made one she kinda blew me away and i started voting for her lol You cant get to know a idol in just one performance, its also about the inside idol too, well it was for me!

I think most of the nations has a 'Road to victory in Idol' or a similar production, it would be fun to have the different TV-networks show them before we vatched the final show with the results. Not necesarily in prime time, but if there were a artist you liked you could see more of his/her performance, and also get a better overall picture.

Yeah, the show was pretty crap. They should have at LEAST been able to sing 2 songs. It was like we were watching the top 40 contestants and picking an overall winner from that.

Random you're a genius! Singing two songs each would have given us a much better idea of various people's vocal strengths and weaknesses. And it might have given that German guy the opportunity to redeem himself, as well ...

unless there is some sort of world talent shortage, the problem is that suuuuuurely this shower of non-entities can't represent the best young singers of their home countries
i can't remember a less prepossessing, more motley looking bunch since the cast of a Wagga production of "A Hard God" in the mid-1980's
there must be something wrong with the selection process if it throws up a group like this. i can't name one that I would let inside my own house

i can't name one that I would let inside my own house I doub't anyone would be interested seeing the inside of your house, maybe the polish girl would go there if she believed the polish judge hid in there, but other than that I can't see why anyone of the WI-contestants would want to visit you.

Totally agree with you, Mo
I also think the WI makeup was heavy handed in an attempt to counter the effects of the stage lighting, which was too harsh and unflattering. Remember how Guy looked on AI? He has a nice, translucent complexion, which is olive but also quite fair. The WI makeup people plastered his face, which made his skin look too dark, and a bit dull. They made Kelly Clarkson look terrible too.
I know about this stuff from my involvement in theatre.

I nearly thought you meant that as a question! LMAO. So did I! Haha I'm not voting as I don't feel anything for any of the Idols ('cept Guy of course) and I would not waste 55c to vote for someone who didn't really stand out at all. That's exactly the way I felt. A lot of ppl on other forums were saying that it was meant to "showcase" the talent from these competitions around the world. However, I believe this is not the case, as if it was a showcase there would be no need to vote. It should purely be these are the winners and here is what they're about! I think the way it turned out was not exactly how they envisioned it to be, which is a shame.
