A query about worid idol...
If you can't vote for your own country, (and presuming most people will want their country's idol to win world idol), then what is the incentive to vote at all? Wouldn't we be helping Guy most if we voted for no-one and therefore didn't detract from any of his votes in the overall tally?

I think it will be like Eurovision where each country voted for the other country's songs. The highest vote got 12 points, the next got 10 points, etc. So even if most people don't vote points will be given by rank not by absolute votes cast. Even if only 100 people in Australia vote countries will get the points based on rank. In other words theres no incentive to vote but there's no disincentive to either. Its purely a matter of whether you want to participate and reward the singer you like best with your vote. Lets face it, if no one voted there would be no point in having a world idol in the first place.

It seems almost impossible for us to vote - how r we going to vote? and how do they count our votes? If it's as WIVOTING put it...then even that sounds complicated. Also, can u imagine, if we got to vote for our country, it will be almost impossible to beat Kelly Clarkson who would have the whole of America supporting her. Maybe they'll just have all the judges from around the globe to cast their votes instead....hmmm.

So you can't vote for the contestant who won in your country for World Idol? GET OVER IT (or move to another country). Don't blindly support someone just because they are the winner from your country - be objective.
Give each of the contestants a chance and then make up your mind... don't cry about not being able to vote for someone when you haven't had a chance to see them all compete against each other.
The Eurovision voting system is probably the most effective for this situation. It is not complicated - I bet there are many chimps/dolphins who understand it.

No-one's blindly supporting someone just because they are the winner from your country! But say we actually think Guys performance is better, wouldn't it be frustrating that you weren't allowed to vote for him?
However, regardless of the way the voting is calculated - it will be flawed! -If we get to vote for our country, it'll be biased on the country's population b/c there will b people who won't be objective. - if say you can't vote for your country. For the people who happen to like the idol from their country, it will be a game of tactics, where they may either decide not to vote at all or follow the Survivor strategy and vote only the crappy singers so you can get rid of the singers with the most threat to the one you like. That's just not right! - If we don't get to vote at all and the judges cast their votes only, there will be some judges that are biased as well. - as for the weighting of votes....tooo complicated!

If you've ever watched Eurovision contest, you'll understand what biased, politicised and neighbourhood-voting means! We might be in luck if we - Australia vote for example for Kelly, and because then, America will "luuuuuuv" us, they'll vote (back) for us, and because they are MANY. our Guy can win!!!

LMFAO!!!! Ok I was just on that website thingo and I heard that Alicja Janosz chick and I remember someone saying she sounds just like Anastacia in some other thread?! Don't beleive it... ITS NOT TRUE! She's out of time and everything! Sounds like shes having a hard time getting her mouth around the workds... maybe its her accent...
Well anyways, back to Guy winning! I've been going on canadian forums and stuff and at the moment im coming across as a "ryan supporter" but at the same time every now and then i've said a few things about how that australian one blew me away... I also mentioned that I think we (as canadians) should give the other idols a chance although I was going to give voting a miss so that Ryan would win... I got some good feedback... they will vote for true talent!
