Wow the reports have just been amazing especially Sheyne's with her sensational memory. I can't even remember what I said let alone what Guy said .... I will never forget the feeling though
Well since I couldn't add anything better to the guy Parts of those amazing reports I will just ramble on a bit about what an amazing experience this whole thing was for me/us.
On Saturday our little group flew in from all over the place arriving at different times. Only two of our party were actually from Sydney Liz and Sheyne. Because of the convenience we had all decided to stay in the Westin Hotel (where the function was being held) Liza organised adjoining rooms with Renee Kaz Liza and Jen in one and Me mum Barbie and Heather in the other. Our late joiners organised their own rooms with Jade staying with Bernie and Liz with her daughter. Prinia was staying with her son who lives in Sydney. The plan was that we would all assemble in the adjoining rooms around 6pm and trundle down together from there.
What an excited lot we were donning our high heals sprucing ourselves up. Oh the laughter and joy was so evident. Mum said she might have to hold me down and someone (maybe Kaz) said that Renee would be hard to hold back or words to that effect. ... but the nerves were also evident. Should we or should we not take the Kryptonite balls. Consensus said yep pop them in our bags ... better to be prepared and if it seemed appropriate out they would come.
We were ready ahead of time (I wonder why lol) after spending hours and cracking up over our thoughts regarding the ''what ifs'' and "wouldn't it be fantastic if" but ultimately all we were expecting was a good view of Guy in a different atmosphere, a new song and perhaps a little time, at a distance but treading the same turf.
So to say we were excited, happy and in wonderful spirits is the understatement of the year.... but as is often the way, the best of plans can go sadly wrong. Mum and I had organised the seating/table and had constantly checked everything via phone and email every step of the way. In the first instance it was YES we could be assured of a good table with a great view - not at the front but definitely close and with a great view. As we trickled on to Table two no worries we were assured that our tables could/would be together and with each new person who joined the second table we were again reassure the tables would definitely be together.
Well the next bit of exciting news was a double edged sword to our little group! During pre dinner drinks Sheyne noticed the table list pinned up and that Guy was on our second table but our tables weren't together .... How wonderful having Guy at one of our tables .... the thing that dreams are made of but how devastating to find that the other table was perhaps the second worst table in the room. We were one table from the far back corner. I felt terrible as I had organised this and been assuring everyone that our table would be great and here we sat in the back corner with perhaps the worst seats any of us had ever had for a Guy concert. It was like a little mini cloud was sitting just above our heads ready to storm down on our table. Oh I just wanted to cry. Although upset everyone was so nice about it and trying to make mum and I feel better [glow=red,2,300](thank you so much )[/glow]Sheyne came up with what everyone thought was a great compromise. It wasn't going to happen but in the final analyzes none of that mattered anyway as table position was in the end irrelevant. However it certainly momentarily took us down. Thank you to everyone on that table for for being so kind even in this moment of shared gloom, I don't think you new how bad I felt about our view of the stage and letting everyone down .... or maybe you did .
Through the laughter and chatter some of the gloom couldn't help to stay with us through the first course but just as the main course was being served David appeared (it is a wonder he could find us lol but I believe he had help from Jade and Bernie- thank you girls!) David's words turned the light back on on our table! David said that Guy told him to go and find some of his friends as the audience was looking a little stayed and would we go out onto the dance floor and dance when he came out. Several of us asked should we go as soon as he comes on or wait till he asks and David said straight away. My mum said that we were worried about getting up and David said No Noo Noooo Guy wants you to.
Hmmm what can I say to being told Guy wanted something from us .... That was just the VERY BEST GIFT DAVID COULD EVER HAVE GIVEN ME. As mum said later ... you want me to step to the left aha okay ... the right now yep okay ... jump up yes yes .. how high Guy rotfl. No but seriously, it actually was the highlight of my night knowing we could do something, no matter how small, for Guy.
David chatted for a minute or two and before he left he said that Guy would be coming over to talk to us after. No one asked anything of David and prior to this there were no expectations of this happening so by the time David left we were all floating on cloud nine and those rain clouds were nowhere to be seen.
Ten minutes later Guy Sebastian was announced and these 10 little fairies flitted along the back of the tables (easy access because of back row tables - Ah the heavens were looking down on us) and then flew onto the dance floor with looks of awe on their faces ... well I don't know about the other faces but this little fairy certainly had awe written all over hers.
Anyway I don't know why Guy would have been in the least worried because he is so loved and he would always have fans in any audience. ... Within moments the floor was full and a million phones and cameras were clicking away taking his picture .. and they weren't even ours lol. The cameras never stopped throughout his performance and the dance floor which was quite large was packed.
And this is just what we saw.
There we were standing and swaying to this gorgeous voice and every now and again looking at each other in disbelief.
